After three-plus hours of downloading, converting, and uploading we are thrilled to bring you the above Assassin’s Creed 2 walkthrough video. It’s from gamescom, but don’t bother screaming “old!” Instead, consider discussing the mechanics shown -- in real-time no less -- from the anticipated sequel.

It opens with protagonist Ezio diving into a haystack and dismissing a guard while half-buried in its yellow glory. The video then shows off a bit of the new “economic system” -- paying mercenaries, buying items, etc., -- then shows off two new weapons, one being a gun.

It also shows a good bit of a “Secret Location” mission. These optional quests were created to reward players with items and test their Assassin’s Creed mettle with a variety of stealth, acrobatic and puzzle challenges. There’s a chance -- in my mind, at least -- that missions on this scale could break the Assassin’s Creed monotony.

Assassin’s Creed 2 hits the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 17th.

Why on earth would it take three hours of work for one six minute video?

Assassins Creed 2 is shaping up to be the game that I was disappointed Assassins Creed was not, if that makes sense. The first game was a bit lame, what with this masterful assassin not being able to swim.

Game is looking gooood.

The very same sentence which tells you 3 hours were spent on it explains why, you tool.

I was a fan of the first one.

This one seems like it will only have improved over the first one.

Now all I need is the money for it...

Hey jackass, sometimes people want the details. Seriously Brad, why would it take three hours for one video? Is that unusual or what?

Every time I see screens or hear about this series, I think it looks awesome. But then I watch the gameplay, and it just doesn't look that entertaining. The chase sequence / platforming type stuff looked cool, but "stealth" (read: walking slow, waiting) just ISN'T fun.

Also, his voice/tonation is comedy gold.

This one looks better than the first one, but I still have a wait and see attitude. The platforming parts in the secret locations look pretty cool though.

Converting a video can take quite a while. Uploading a large file can also be quite the hassle.

For me it was between this and MW2, and I had to go with MW2.
I'll probably still get this down the line, though. Also, did anyone else think it was funny the way he said, "This way, we offer players diversity..."

Fucking sweet looking. The location interiors look to be adding platforming elements to the game along the lines of the PS2/GC era Prince of Persia games, which is outstanding as far as I'm concerned.

Now, if only the "Master's Edition" weren't a retailer exclusive... God, those piss me off beyond description.

Does anyone know about the 3rd portion of DLC included with the UK Black Edition and not included in the US version, labeled "Arsenal Shipyard (Venice)"? I imagine it'll be eventually sold via XBL/PSN, but hearing some form of confirmation would be nice.

That video just pushed me away from the series entirely.

Looks to have all the same stuff I was annoyed by in the first one (super-simple, unrealistic, and unsatisfying building scaling and really just "too simple" everything.

Press one button to climb, then press one button to win this fight against 10 guys. That's what the first game was like for me.

I give them respect for their ambition, but this is not my type of game.

This video is awesome. It shows a lot of the improvements to gameplay like the economic system, new stealth options, and catacombs. He didn't even get to all the new melee weapons and swimming. It's nice there's side missions too, I enjoyed the world of AC1 so much, this iteration will make it that much deeper of an experience. Hopefully they support it with some DLC.

@DinnertimeNinja: yea the climbing was over-simplified, but it'd be too complicated to do manually. Can you name a game that has complicated climbing controls? The combat system, however, goes deeper if you're willing to learn counter attacks, executions and use daggers. Now theres smoke, poison, mercs, and other shit to jazz it up.

If you want to talk about an over-simplified game, how about Fable 2? It amde me sick seeing that get so many GOTY nods. It's a very average, one button action game with a horrible RPG system, piss-poor economic system, boring life sim elements, and a rudimentary inventory system. I beat the game just to make sure there wasn't a single redeeming quality in it, and while that says something about my social life, the game still blows.

This colision thing with clothes on games is kind of lame...clothes going throught others...this happens with some minor objects and bodies...

example on the video: The red scarf goes straight through the Assassin costume...

jeez...fix that please!

Love all these new moves that they're giving Ezio.

Also, I agree with what Arttemis said before. They change the textures into a platforming type appearance allowing them to make everything flow more smoothly and that is the key to making this game a masterpiece in my opinion.

What was wrong with xbox 360 Bioshock weapon selection!?

I'm not even sure I'll have my xbox 360 with me in November, but if I do I will be considering this gaem seriously. Though I haven't touched the first since finishing it. I can't stand it after completing it 100%.

I'm one of the few who loved the first AC and i can't explain how excited i am about this. There seemsto be so many improvment that i'm having a boner about it.

PS: Didya looked at the inventory? There's like a billion itens!
So many adorable ways to kill someone.

I hate how in the end Ezio pops out of a man hole and the people on the benches pay no mind to him. That being said, this is still a day one purchase for me for I don't want to miss any catacomb action only available with a pre-order and I love the Italy setting(plus a lot more game play innovation don't hurt either).

The video (and narrator who simply didn't care) lost me when the guy jumped from way high to land on a very modest stack of hay, and nobody even flinched.

People in Italy seem to be used with the sort of thing even back in the Renaissance days, I guess.
