Assassin's Creed 2 confirmed, no I Am Alive in March, other obvious Ubisoft info photo

Quick -- look surprised!

Publisher Ubisoft revealed a slew of information about it's 2009-2010 game line up in a financial call today, most of it obvious information about stuff we already knew about.

For one, before March of 2010 we'll see Assassin's Creed 2, as well as new Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, and Red Steel titles. Shocking. Ubisoft also "revealed" that a new, Smash Bros.-esque Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles title is in the works from Game Arts. Huge news

Also mentioned is the fact that their cross-platform disaster adventure title, I Am Alive, won't be coming out this March. This is also huge news, and we're all very, very surprised.

A new Smash Bros.-esque TMNT? I'm intrigued...

Screw Assassin's Creed. I want more Jade Raymond promoting it/whoring herself.

I'm seriously never buying anymore Ubishite games again, unless its Ghost Recon or Rainbow Six.

Assassins Creed = No Thank You
Splinter Cell = out of the traditional gamers mind for too long
I Am Alive = need to show gameplay
Red Steel = Wat?
Ghost Recon = No Thank You
Super Smash Turtles = ...Maaaybe

Seriously Ubisoft do something new. Drop the Tom Clancy plot generator (American + Terrorists = GO GO GO) and bring some new things to the table. The only things out of Ubisofts 09 calendar that I'm even remotely excited about are Splinter Cell and this TMNT title. Maybe I'll be interested if they can squeeze another Rainbow Six title out as long as its not like Vegas 2, which was a $60 overpriced expansion pack for Vegas 1.

Assassin's Creed 2 might be good if the developers are aware that its predecessor sucked a truckload of balls. They might have listened to the criticism and atoned for that pile of shit.

Admit it, you will buy the new Assassin's Creed. One can only hope the ubi has learned that innovative game mechanics are nothing if you're doing the same four missions fifty six thousand times.

Saying Assassin's Creed "sucked balls" is a little harsh. Repetitive, most definitely. But the tech was solid, and there was a foundation for a great game there. Looking forward to seeing what they do with the sequel.

@SephirothX:

I agree Ubisoft should branch out and maybe try something new. I Am Alive is their "something new" game for this year, so I'll hold out some hope. But it's funny that you completely dismissed their previous two attempts to try something new (i.e. not a Tom Clancy game or based on an existing property), Red Steel and Assassin's Creed. Yet the idea of a potential Smash Bros. clone with a TMNT skin appeals to you. That's not necessarily NEW, is it? I get what you're saying, but it seems that when publishers do take a chance on something new, they end up getting screwed at retail and by some gamers. But when they stick to a formula, it pays off in spades.

@CottonMcKnight:

It's my understanding Splinter Cell is still a 360/PC exclusive.

I really enjoyed playing the first Assasin's creed, sure it gets a little repetitive after a while, but then again, which game isn't repetitive in some way?

I loved moving through the city at high speeds with a pack of templars on my ass :-) Then suddenly seeing a way to get up and dissapear into the 'shadows' :-) awesome stuff :-)

If there is another Assassin's Creed they need to make it harder, not even sure I died from start to finish in that game. The gameplay was solid though, but of course repetitive.

Hurray!

Virtual Historically-Innacurate Tour 2 is back!

Anybody want my copy of the first, flag-finding is about as boring as reading every display in the Museum of Nothingness.
