ALL UNITS. GameStop is offering more than exclusive downloadable content for Assassin’s Creed 2. Above this mess of text is a hot image of the GameStop exclusive Limited Edition version of the game, which was recently revealed by the guys behind the Assassin’s Creed Twitter feed. While we don’t have an official list, it’s probably safe to say that this special edition includes these five things: an Ezio figurine, a bonus disc of some kind, a huge box, a book, and a code for the GameStop exclusive content “Palazzo Medici.”
As Joystiq points out, this collection strikingly similar to the one offered for the original game. According to GameStop, the original special edition had these five items: a lead figurine, a mini-strategy guide, a tin box, a supplemental disc (containing behind-the-scenes footage and diaries), and Penny Arcade comics.
No word on price as of yet, but it’s hard to imagine this thing won’t cost seventy dollars (or more) like the original game’s collector’s edition.

One of my favorite games ever, actually.
This collector's edition looks lame though, and probably won't even hit PC, which is where I'll be playing this.
Anyway I ordered this last month from a Dutch online retailer. I hope you Americans can get your hands on it. Usually I will shell out top cash for ONE super special edition a year (last year I chose Fallout 3), and since Uncharted 2 won't be getting any super special edition I chose this.
i still feel sorry for those who got suckered into buying the first one.

Yeah I heard about the Black Edition a couple of months back, and as soon as I did. I put it on Pre-Order. Mainly because I enjoyed the first one mostly, and if they've fixed the repetition of the Missions, then I'll most likely enjoy this on as well.
I also wanted the Conspiracy Book because the Outside Story of AC1 really intriguied me aswell.
Suffice to say, its setting me back $149.95AUD....but hey, I'm only getting this and ODST at the moment..so why the hell not.
Great, another Black Edition pre-order maniac ! :-P With shipping I have to whip up 91 Euros for this, which is about 155 AUD / 130 USD. I thought why the hell not, you only live once. But if Brutal Legend dishes out some special edition I'm gonna get that too. Maybe the Modern Warfare 2 and Uncharted Steelcase editions but that's about it for me when it comes to special editions. Although that Arkham Asylum one looked really tempting....

what came out was some horrible hybrid of action/stealth that did neither well. i never felt like an assassain, i felt like an extremely poorly dressed man with a sword who occasionally has to listen to people i stabbed in the throat soliloquize.
that leads me to the next contention, the cutscenes. and this was a big one. i think the people who wrote the game were so incredibly convinced that it had an excellent story they didn't want anyone to miss any of it. i spent more time watching cutscenes about shit i couldn't possibly have cared less about than actually playing the game. it just came off as incredibly pretentious and arrogant, and judging by who made it, it was probably intended this way. the future scenes were really totally unnecessary, as well. i don't know why a game would take me from stabbing faces to wandering around a lab until i eventually go to sleep.
the missions were fun the first 2 times you did them. they weren't the subsequent 20, when you did exactly the same thing in a city which is painted a different shade of brown.
then there was the freerunning, which was excellently done, but i think the developers leaned on it far too hard and used it as a crutch. you shouldn't hinge the entire game on one gimmick, and they did just that, forcing you to use their shiny little gimmick they seemed so proud of 41 times before you could actually kill people. they should have called the game "parkour creed", because you did a lot more of that than actual assassinating. in fact, you did more of just about anything than assassinating, being as the actual assassination missions were all horribly easy and short. it usually took me less time to kill the target than it did for the unskibbable cutscenes to finish.
those were my main gripes with it. it seems like everyone else who played it got so caught up in the graphics and free running gimmick (or that a REAL LIVE GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! made it) that they forgot to actually play the game and therefore never realized it's a pretty subpar, repetitive game that is confused and arrogant.
given your problems with the game, which you were not alone in feeling, didnt you still have hope that a sequel that addresses those issues would be a lot of fun?
I agreed with your complaints, though not to the extent you felt them, but that only makes me hopeful for the sequel, as they have made statements about fixing the repetitiveness of missions, and the lack of variation in execution of a mission. cutscenes may not improve, but AC is certainly not the only game to overdo those.
i love this type of game. hitman: blood money is probably my favorite game, so if someone made hitman with freerunning and swords, it'd be great.
i just want to feel like an assassin when playing an assassin game.
also, lots of games have over elaborate cutscenes, but i can't think of another one that won't at least let you skip them.
