Assassin's Creed 2 : Black Edition has lots of stuff in it photo

Games really shouldn't have special editions unless they're truly special and/or revered, but that didn't stop the original Assassin's Creed from arrogantly believing it deserved one. Assassin's Creed 2 carries on the tradition (along with seemingly 50% of all games these days) with its own collector's version, crammed to the gills with special goodies.

Assassin's Creed 2: Black Edition (zomg racist) will come shipped in "black packaging," with each copy having its own "unique authentic holographic signature." Also included with the game is a "64-page finely crafted leather style hardcover and parchment-finish" book with concept art, developer interviews and probably more self-indulgence than you can shake a stick at.

As if that wasn't enough, the Black Edition will also house the game's soundtrack, a toy of main character Ezio and three in-game bonus missions. How about that for something that is not nothing?

Assassin's Creed 2: Black Edition is currently slated for a UK price point of £69.99, with a North American price yet to be determined. Don't expect it to come cheap though, kids.

My only disappointment with the collector's editions are that the figures are about four inches tall. If I'm going to buy something that comes with a statue, I want it to be at least six inches tall. For example, the Big Daddy figure from Bioshock's Collector's Edition was the perfect size. Big enough to sit on a desk and look cool, but not so small that I could step on it without noticing.

You sure that's not an adult version of Sora?

@Dexter345: I find nothing wrong with that statement.

I'm somewhat of a collector's edition whore, but I think I'm going to be able to resist this. While I liked Assassin's Creed, I didn't like it nearly enough to make Assassin's Creed 2 a must buy.

I don't get it. I REALLY don't.

AC1 was a terrible game. Why are people excited for this?

@ZeroTolo: Agreed, if they want me to get it, it better be six, seven inches tall at the least.

@Scientist tz

I played AC1 non stop, like without playing any other games at the time. Plus I want to see how Ezio likes it in my asshole.

You can tell this is Ass Creed 2 cause he now has TWO hidden blades to kill with. I know I know, heavy stuff no?

Also, wtf is with this douchebag getting to keep both of his ring fingers. It's not fair, and I for one am pissed off about it.

Also, excited for this game.

I have to say, that's not a bad package compared to other games' collector's editions, and that figurine doesn't look half bad.

How big is the figure?
Since im done with CE that come with a figure since there always small as shit.

Seriously bioshock was the only one who got the figure thing right (aside from broken big daddys and what not)

I hate all those special editions and pre order extra stuff. We ALL pay allot for games! So why we have to pay even more to get the 100% we thought we will get by buying it?

Ezio in that picture reminds me of Starkiller from SW:TFU, which I think is awesome. I'm bound to be in an incredibly small minority for actually loving both Assassin's Creed and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

I didn't hesitate to buy the special edition of the first game, because I had been anticipating it since it's very initial reveal as a then-PS3 exclusive. Hopefully the figurine is more impressive this time around.

Now if this gave you a black-clad Altair for AC2, I might be a little more interested. But meh, I was let down by the first game so I'm definitely not shelling out anything more than standard price for a CE.

I loved the first game, but that's a lot of money, let's see exactly how substantial the bonuses are first.

That looks like a much better figure than the one you got with AC1. The piece of shit would barely stand on its own, and within a few days it had fallen off my desk and cracked its cape on the way down. Ubisoft was nice enough to issue me a replacement, which I kept in its case to prevent damage, negating the point of having a figurine to show off. Any wobbly figurine should have a stand like this one. Wasn't even that nice of a figurine either.

@ SephirothX

They've said that you get that cloak later in the game, according to some random message board I read.
