As Mass Effect Limited Collector's Edition revealed, our yawn animation spot on photo

I'm as amped up for Mass Effect as the next guy, but quite honestly, I could do without a collector's edition of the game (and every other game expected to sell more than four copies). That is, of course, unless it contains a sweet Krogan limited edition statue. Unfortunately, that's just not the case at all.

Those who shell out $69.99 for the Mass Effect Limited Collector's Edition will snag a book, Galactic Codex: Essentials, which will presumably be a streamlined race, character, and story index. You may or may not be able to get that information here, but don't tell anyone. Additionally, the package also ships with an art book, A Future Imagined, and a 2nd DVD with exclusive Mass Effect videos (Art of Mass Effect, Interactive Storytelling of Mass Effect).

The limited collector's edition should complement Prima's $34.99 Collector's Edition strategy guide quite nicely.

Buying limited edition crap shows that you're gullible.

And naivety shows weakness.

And weakness will get you attacked by wolves and other large predators.

Oh, and you could have used that extra money you wasted to buy a quad patty burger.

Oh, and "Making Of" disks should never count as extras. Unless you count is an an extra coaster to put my beer on.

I don't care what you d-bags think, I'm still getting it. (it doesn't hurt that I'm buying a coupon for a for a free collectors edition from my game store manager for $50. WooHoo $20 savings!)

Remember when collector's editions of games were special?

Next thing you know Madden 09 and Sonic and Mario at the Olympics will get collector's edition boxes.

I hate collectors editions. I don't buy a video game to read a fu@king book..

Wait, the fuck? Since when do strategy guides warrant having their own special edition?

I hope I meet someone in my lifetime who owns something that stupid, so I can laugh hysterically while gasping for the breath to tell him what a gullible consumer whore douchebag he is.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks special editions are generally pointless.

...Unless said special edition comes with some really sweet swag.

This, does not.

I gotta agree with Deiga... Had I purchased Halo 3, I would have nerdgasm'd and sprung for the Legendary.

Yeah, a coupon. The manager just came back from his companies yearly convention in vegas and a bunch of vendors and gaming companies give away free stuff. He came back with copies of games to keep or give away like Heavenly Sword, Lair, and Jeanne D'Arc and some coupons for free games that weren't out yet like Halo 3 Legendary (which my friend bought from him for $70) and Mass Effect.

@JonDarkwood
Zelda:Twighlight Princess, Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, God of War 2 and Metroid Prime 3 all have Collectors Editions of their strategy guides so it's becoming more prevelant.

(side note: Apparently Prima Guides offers 1 free guide to store managers a month and that same manager that is giving me the discount on Mass Effect is going to get me the Collectors strategy guide for free. I'm telling you, become friends with your store managers and you get hooked up.)

Ever since that Dexter Jettser alien from Attack of the clones diner scene. Everyone is copying that mega frog chin for aliens.

Special edition strat guides are the only ones I buy, usually because they come with 200 page art books, for which I'm a sucker. There's no way I'd pay $35 for one but you can get them for like $20 online.

I don't know if I like Mass Effect's art enough to bother with the limited guide though...

I agree about LE games though. They always contain "books" that are like 8 pages long. If the Mass Effect strat guide is cool I'll get the regular version of the game and the Limited guide...
