Artist gives Lara Croft a Borderlands-like makeover photo

File this one under "Neat." Freelance artist Ankit Garg has done a number on Tomb Raider's Lara Croft, giving her a total makeover that would make Tyra Banks and her America's Next Top Model crew proud. (Miss J confirms this as "fierce.")

While Garg says he was inspired by games like Fallout and id software's upcoming Rage, we've been playing a lot of Borderlands lately and can't help but make the connection to Gearbox's chosen art style. Garg even threw in a little Iron Man for good measure, with some sort of light/mirror thing on her hand and gun... sure, why not?

According to the freelance artist's online resume, his work has appeared in retail products you might heard of called The Beatles: Rock Band and Fallout 3.

We know it was just for fun, but we wouldn't complain if this new bad ass Lara appeared in an upcoming Tomb Raider game. Looks like Eidos already has that one on lock, though.

[via F*ck yeah, Lara! - Thanks, Jose]

I'd play it. A post apocalyptic Tomb Raider sounds incredible, I hope some certain developers are watching.

Something about Lara needs to change, Eidos should be taking notes.

Hey ppl, Thanks for the news. I am highly honored and really appreciate my artwork being shown in here.. I can hardly tell how glad I am feeling now. Thanks for all your comments too. I understand that I still have a long way to go and I will definitely be working on improving my skills. I have been very much inspired by borderland art style and even Iron man too while making this. Hopefully I will be able to show what more games I am working on soon in the future, Thanks again

I think it looks a hell of a lot more interesting than the past Lara Croft models. Nice job man. Who knows maybe one day they will finally make a Tomb Raider game that doesn't suck huh?
