[Every week (until I get bored), Art Juice takes a recent videogame story and provides an unremittingly artistic slant, telling us a little something about ourselves in the process ... whether we want to know the truth or not!]

Since Biblical times, mankind has feared the snake. It's a symbol of danger, thematically associated with mistrust and cold, merciless death. This is why my artistic eye envisages videogame auteur David Cage embracing the reptilian creature so thoroughly.

David Cage is a man who dares, a man who takes the danger of life and makes it his steed. The Serpent of Dawn represents mankind's fear of the tomorrow, and David Cage so effortlessly rides that terror we all fear, while reminding us that he made Heavy Rain, the popular hit available only on PlayStation 3.

I think this speaks out to all of us who are afraid, and states that perhaps we should all be like Cage, grabbing that terrible snake with our hands and wrestling it until we are satisfied. I find this artwork inspiring and it makes me want to greet each day with courage and dignity.

Why I love The Last of Us multiplayer, in a nutshell

We're outnumbered, down to our last pair of lives. The clock is ticking, it's as much of a threat to my team's survival as the four armed men bearing down on our position. I don't like our chances, not one bit, but moments like this, they're the reason I play the game.more

I never thought Super Mario Bros. would make me so angry

In a cramped beachside arcade, sandwiched between Galaga and Mortal Kombat 3, sits my white whale. It's surrounded by restaurants, a roller coaster, churro vendors, and a carousel, this sad little Super Mario Bros. arcade cab...more
