Art Attack Friday is your weekly look at videogame fan art created by a talented artist.
Joe Vriens is a very happy man right now. You see, he's really happy that Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 is getting re-released as his artwork is being featured in the game. Capcom hired Joe to make the new artwork such as this Ryu and Wolverine pieces. He's done a lot more drawings for MvC 2 and he'll be revealing more of his artwork as the game comes closer to release.
That's not all! Joe made this Street Fighter IV comic that's only available to people who picked up the game from Target. Joe and Capcom heart each other very much. He's even working on some pieces for the Darkstalkers tribute!
He's also currently working on an iPhone horror game featuring this badass werewolf character. Needless to say, Joe is a very busy man.
Hit up Joe's deviantART and Blogspot for a look at all of his art. Also, I love the header image so much. Hit the break to see Joe make the Triceraclaws and Tryunasaurus image from start to finish.

Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
My favourite just for S&G's is Ryu looking up at Sagat with a terrified look. He's a very good artist.
I also like the one with Sagat being Ryu. Sick.
Anyway, this guy's very talented. Great range. Good sense of humor, too.
I'm not negative, I just like to accentuate the negative aspects of games. I sometimes give out praise for games that are great as well. But I guess people tend to remember the negative stuff people say than the positive things. I could say positive stuff all the time, but that'd be boring wouldn't it? And plus there are too many people doing that already here.
Also, I do LIKE Marvel vs Capcom. I was just nitpicking the art. I though he was drawing advertisement art for the game, I didn't realize he was drawing the ingame artwork.
Yeah, his artwork is great, and he has Ryu's likeness down to a tee. I hope to see more from him.
For interest, anyone know what program he's using in the video there?
