Art Attack Friday is your weekly look at videogame fan art created by a talented artist.
Art Attack Friday is taking a different approach this week as we take a look at Jin-Saotome, master custom toy maker. Jin has an amazing talent here. He's kind of like Dr. Frankenstein in that he takes body parts from other toys, fuses them together, re-paints them and creates a new, better figure.
Jin-Saotome has a gigantic collection of custom figures over on his deviantART page. He dabbles in a little bit of everything nerdy from videogames, Marvel heroes, Transformers and more. What's really impressive is the fact that the figures all turn out so well. In most cases, better then what an actual toy company has or can make.
Check out his official Web site and deviantART for more of his figures. Any particular figure you guys really like?

Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
i always wondered how people do this. are they made from scratch? well some of it anyway.
but then i noticed the megaman X body looks like one of the newer gijoe type figures.
To be fair to the toy companies, they're on a budget and Jin isn't. Also, Jin doesn't have to worry about manufacturability for any custom parts he makes/modifies, or about safety standards. It's far easier (and cheaper) to make a one-off art project than it is to create a mass-producible product that'll show up in toy stores for an affordable price.
That said, Jin does some kickass work.
MAN AND MACHINE, POWER EXTREME!!!
Everything else is pretty badass though.
A++.
