Art Attack Friday: Brawl in the Family photo

Brawl in the Family is a very simple Web comic. A majority of the art is comprised of simple sketches, but don’t let that stop you from reading the series. Comics are about the punch line and there are some really funny strips here. That’s not to say that Matthew Tranto, artist and writer of Brawl in the Family, can’t draw. There are a few pieces in the series that are really well done.

The series follows mostly Kirby and King Dedede as the King tries to destroy Kirby. The attempts usually backfire though. A lot of the strips also see Kirby inhaling food that usually ends up being to Kirby's disadvantage. Other Nintendo characters associated with Brawl will make appearances, such as Fox McCloud using the Land Master at the wrong time and Wario visiting Etch-A-Sketch land.

The series looks to be going strong as Brawl in the Family started this past June and has already hit over 100 comics. Go take a look at the comics and let us know what you think of the series!

It's mildly amusing in a Peanuts kind of way.

Hah! Already beat you to it!

But seriously, I love this comic. It has such a unique, innocent style that it really sets itself apart from the general clichè of video game webcomics. :D

I definitely wouldn't call it unique. Unique meaning "Radically distinctive and without equal."
It's ok, but the strips and punchlines are too cliche/predictable. The art is mostly nice, although a few strips I saw were quite sloppy. Dedede has too much of a Wiley Coyote feel. Overall it's good, just not my kind of thing. Too simple.

I got a good chuckle out of a chunk of these - they're certainly not the deepest or most complex bits of art out there, but they're quick to read through, which is nice if you just want to goof off for a few minutes.

I really like this comic, mainly for it's simplicity. Some of the comics really made me laugh.

ive read it through last night an more than the majority of the comic were superb; yes the art sux, yes the punch line can be a bit predictable however i was laughing nearly at every comic. Plus there isnt any of that random comedic crap(CAD). Favorite so far purely out of nostalgia was the Calvin and HObbes one.
