Army of Two getting a movie photo

Just like in Brokeback Mountain, the two buddies in Army of Two just can't quit each other. In addition to an upcoming sequel to the game, it looks as though a movie incarnation is on the horizon. Variety is reporting that the film adaptation of the game will begin production in 2009 with none other than Scott Burns of The Bourne Ultimatum fame penning the script.

Burns said he wanted to write the movie because he found the “ambiguity” of “private military corporations lend [sic] weight to an intelligent thriller with relevance to what’s going on in the world right now.” In other words, everything that Army of Two didn’t do with its story.

Burns didn’t comment if there would be scatterbrained enemies, clipping issues, or an awkward amount of fist bumps in the film. Another interesting note is that EA is co-producing the movie, which is a first for the mega-publisher.

I highly doubt this will even make theatres, DVD release ONLY!

Usually when you pick up a DVD and are all like "Hey, this wasn't in theatres" There is a HUGE fucking reason it was not in theatres......like 95% of the time

Stallone as Rios and Sean William Scott as Salem. If god has any mercy he'll do this for me.

I'm so fucking pumped for this movie!

Well, I think it's safe to say that the movie will definitely be better than the game, this time. Unless Boll directs.

If there was ever a game better suited for a movie, this is it.

What is Army of Two but explosions, action, and little to no plot line (or at least one that can be completely ignored). The whole game is taken from an 80s shoot-em-up.

I loved the game so I'll be watching this when it comes out, I also demand a sequel to the game, its the best co-op shooter out there.

I liked the game enough to play all the way through (which is more than I can say for most games nowadays). I'll gladly play a sequel and I would be interested (ie thrilled) to see a movie take the story in a much more serious tone. The game missed that opportunity but maybe the movie and sequel can rectify that.

@Atlas: You didn't buy GTAIV or Bioshock? Zing.

O,o

Not every game needs a movie made out of it...some games are perfectly capable of presenting their narrative all on their own. This shouldn't be a movie.

And now that EA's co-producing it, Here's how i predict they'll fuck it up:

- Poor casting. By this, i mean they'll pick who's popular, instead of who would fit the rolls. If the actor/actress basically prints money from their ass, then they're in.

- Over the top action. As if the game wasn't over the top enough...they'll try to top that, and every time rios or salem fart, fist bump, blink, or say "hi", something, or someONE will explode. good news is though, that since basically 90% of the movie will be made of fire, it would take long to shoot, or serve up.

Oh, and since this IS EA we're talking about, you'll only be able to watch the movie 3 times, after which you'll need to call their CS line, at a premium rate, and hold for at LEAST 20 minutes, before they decide whether or not they want to grant you extra permissions. Also, they'll require you to wear a 50 ton boulder on a chain, strapped to your fucking neck.

Enjoy.

I think that Peter Jackson directing a Half Life movie would be fucking awesome. After what he showed with King Kong, he would put the right amount of action with storyline. Also watch Brain Dead to see how much gore I expect.
