Aquaria: now on Linux!

3:10 PM on 07.27.2007   |   Aaron Linde

I refuse to let this game sink out of your collective consciousness. Before I'm through and the game is actually released, I intend to have all of you beating down doors like the bloodthirsty dead demanding the game's release on XBLA, or simply demanding the game, period. In this video we can see Aquaria running on Linux (give us a cheer, nerds!) and get a bit of insight into the game's UI, minimap, and other little tidbits to tide geeks like me over until its eventual release.

Good lord, it looks pretty. And polished! Just look at that ability system! Listen to that music, the voiceover! Adopt a fiery disposition and a pitchfork, kill who you need to, and start showering Bit-Blot with cash so we can stave off the death of creative 2D gaming for just a few years longer

If it were on Wii VC or PSN I'd buy it. As long as it was reasonably priced. Like $10- 15.

Linux can be an awesome platform for gaming. With the right graphics card drivers, it can perform par with windows. I have even seen it out perform windows in games many times.

Long live the penguin.

Seriously though, ubuntu is for noobs.

Whew, I was worried this wouldn't come to Linux, but now there's not a single reason why I shouldn't buy this, outside of insufficient money. I hope they're nice and let you use it on all the supported platforms when you buy one copy (like some other closed source Windows/Mac/Linux games/programs are), as I use different platforms at different times.

Now, if ATi would just stop with their legal BS and open source their drivers, then Linux gaming on ATi hardware could finally not be problematic! God damn I hate how shitty ATi Linux drivers are, compared to nVidia and Intel graphics drivers.
