You'll notice we haven't said much about this whole Aqua Teen Hunger Force terrorist threat that Boston overreacted to -- probably because it had zero to do with gaming even though the Mooninites are sooo classic 8-bit. But, as gamers, we all generally have the same sense of humor and Aqua Teen is and should be one of those things that always pulls us together and allows us to laugh at the finer things in life.

So, in order to shine more light on the upcoming ATHF movie (which will be 100% awesome) and this whole "controversy," take a look at what our friends over at Attack of the Show did on The Loop

By the way, if you live in Boston: I'm sorry you have to live in such a humorless and idiotic city.

Never forget.

sadness. I love the show, and i hate boston, and allways have. But how stupid are you to mistake some led lights for a terrorist bomb?

I was waiting for this to appear on the front page. Shame it took Attack Of the Show for that to happen. Oh well. Mooninites ftw!

Wow Summa, I used to respect you before I read this trash post. I found the incident funny as anything but to blame a city for freaking out about possible bombs attached to structures is just sad.

The fact is that the people behind it should have known better then to attach those devices to things like bridges.

ATHF did something dumb and its no big deal but at the same time it was costly and should have not happened,

Shame on you Summa for putting down a great city (and no I am not from there) I can see now why you cant keep a job!

I'm glad you did Summa. It's insane seeing this on news websites that are probably owned by people who have never heard of this show. ATHF got about the most publicity they could get out of this. Ever.

Naw, you're way off base. They did some street art. Attached it to bridges. The highly trained Boston bomb squad really should have known better than to think that a millimeters-thick circuit board with LEDs and wires could be a bomb.

It was their fault, not the marketers. They were trying to be clever. They succeeded. Art is frequently disruptive.

I love the fact that some of these were up for 2-3 weeks, yet the police and city of Boston complained at them because it could have been a bomb. Not only a sharp police force, but quick too.

Did anyone happen to see the press conference the guys detained had earlier today? If not, its the funneist part of this whole thing yet.

Summa... you didn't mention the best part. the 2 guys arrested had a press conference right after their court appt. They did it on the court steps. And would only answer questions about hairstyles of the 1970's.

Watch a gaggle of reporters get turned away by "I'm sorry that's not a hair question, I can't answer it"

Little hard on Boston. If this happened at the Brooklyn Bridge, are you telling me the same thing wouldn't have happened? But you do live in NY right, so you get a pass at automatically hating on Boston. I grew up in Massachusetts and we hated everything about New York....mainly due to the Red Sox /Yankee rivalry.

I was really impressed with Kevin's speech at the end. I agreed with him on all of it.

The fact that the media turned this into a possible terrorist event is the real problem that no one wants to address.

The media only wants to sell you the most extreme and "breaking" story. Its a wake up call thats most likely going to go unnoticed.

They did this in 10 other cities and Boston was the only place that had a problem. These things WERE in New York and they had no issues there at all! The Boston police force fucked up and now they're trying to cover their asses because they're embarassed.

Beautiful Job by the "offenders" at the press conference BTW.

As soon as I heard about this that's the first thing that I thought of. It's rediculous that people would think an alien figure flipping you off could be a bomb, but ATHF isn't that well known an entity really.

On the other hand, who doesn't know who Mario is, and about his power blocks.

Sometimes I swear people are just getting dumber and dumber, but really, it's just older people.

The solutions is, kill everyone over the age of 40 or so. Problem solved!

I can not believe this has made national headlines and people are getting charged for shit. It sickens me. I honestly blame Bush for getting passed crap post 9/11 reactionist law called ironically the patriot act. You dont sue people with no ill intent because your student police can't distinguish between a simple LED display and a freaking BOMB. INSANE.

A few quotes from the yellow journalism AP piece that every news outlet in the US feeds off of:

"We're not going to let this go without looking at the further roots of how this happened to cause the panic in this city," Coakley said at a news conference.

Ummm, I know how it happened attorney general, you hire a bunch of morons who couldn't tell a walking cow from a moving car. Stupid, STUPID, STUPID.

In other breaking news, the Boston PD has cornered a Zaxxon machine in a Quincy area laundromat. The Zaxxon machine has not communicated its demands, but is currently holding 17 washing machines and 12 dryers hostage at hangar-point.

The Boston PD has raided seven area Toys 'R Us in a child predation sweep amid reports that a "transformer robot fondled a Bratz doll." Boston PD members shot and wounded three "Chicken Run" DVDs and apprehended a Lord of the Rings Monopoly boardgame in the sting.

Said Officer Ted Bundy of the BPD: "Gandaff was lookin' all quee-yuh at the wheelbarrow, so I took them all in fuh questioning."

It's just like they said in the clip. If it had been a McDonalds Arch or a Nike Swoosh, no one would have cared. But when it's something cool like the Mooninites, everyone goes crazy. This will, however, bring in millions of dollars for the ATHF movie. I'd say mission accomplished, [adult swim].

Umm, War of the Worlds wasn't an example of guerilla marketing. They announced at the begining of the broadcast that it was a radio play, and even repeated that statement once the public reaction started to get back to Wells.

Cool it, dude. Summa can be pretty crazy sometimes (The man honestly likes the PS3 : P), but seriously, if you don't like his posts, bugger off. It's not like Summa came up with the idea of blaming Boston for its idiocy.

trust me, i do not wonder why ppl in other countries think we are stupid/hate us. i know many a reason. i wonder if ppl have been thinking about just how bad this makes us look internationally. but i guess Italia took any focus off of us when a cop got killed during rioting at the Catania-Palermo soccer game.

And I know for a fact that the countries that those who diss America hail from also have their own bouts of stupidity once in a while as well.
