Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

How's some non-subscription MMO action sound to you? How about if that MMO looks a lot like Grand Theft Auto, but more MMO-y. Well, then the video above is for you as it shows off Real Time Worlds' upcoming, subscription free, modern day MMO APB. If you like to watch people driving around and shooting at each other, and then taking a break to break dance then this video is for you my friends.

This is actually one of the first times we've got to see this much action from the game, and if the beta lives up to this video then there are a lot of people out there who are going to have some fun causing or stopping crime. If you ask me the way to go is the side of the cops because then you get to pull off the 1970's mustachioed look like the fellows that we see in the trailer, but others might like the mohawk look better and turn to a life of crime (I could be stereotyping here, and the mohawks could be cops while the mustached men criminals). Either way, there is no doubt that APB isn't ambitious as all get out.

I will most certainly partake in this.

Now THIS is how an MMO should be done.

Especially the end of the video.

It's what the Cops & Robbers mode should have been like in the GTAIV multiplayer. I know that's a lazy comparison, but that multiplayer was such a waste with the co-op.

Did anybody else think of Sabotage by Beastie Boys?

What is it about MMOs and dancing?

Man that looks chaotic, and the Sabotage comparison seems very apt. The look of the game seems very reminiscent of Crackdown (from those skyscrapers in the opening to the OCP style police cars). I wonder if they'll ever bother with a console version, the style of play seems like it'd be perfect for the 360/PS3 but the customisation elements would have to be toned down somewhat.

This looks like a lot of fun! Similar to my favorite MMO Guildwars in the way mission are constructed. Hopefully it remains non-subscription. We'd have to get some dtoid crews established if it's any good.

The new video service is shit. It absolutely does not work for me. I've heard complaints elsewhere too from other sites that have adopted this style. Seriously, it's cool Destructoids got its own little personalized video streaming service but I would definitely not mind something a little more router friendly.

In other news, APB looks great.

Dtoid Crew will definitely be a must for this game. Tear it up on the streets! I can't wait for this game.

This is way cool, and exactly what appeals to me in a game. After so many MMO's coming and going, APB, Crime Craft, The Secret World and The Agency are all MMO's I'd like to get into, and I never thought I'd say that.

If this is free to play on 360 and PSN, I can see this MMO possibly kicking WoW into touch. Oh yes, APB, I want you.

I love all the vehicular manslaughter in that vid. Especially that bus at the end of the vid.

Damnit, I hope I get chosen to be in the beta.

That actually looks kind of fun... and a huge step up from CrimeCrap.

Yeah, I don't see a reason why a PS3/360 version wouldn't be in the works later on if the PC version catches on.

They're meant to be toying with a console version, but it's really low on it's of priorities so it won't be released any time near the PC version.

Looks excellent... this is a day one buy for me.

It has no subscription either, supposedly, which is a main reason I plan to support it.

Full customization of a avatar, no subscription, game looks gorgeous...even both sides of the law can look badass. I hope it gets all the support the community can muster for it.

After seeing the dissapointing reviews about CrimeCraft, I guess all that's left is APB.

@ Chronic Logic

Crimecraft would have been received a lot better if it was not subscription based. The game just isn't worth that... if it was a $50 and done multi-only shooter, it would have been more successful.

Subscription free is definitely a key point in my interest for this. It definitely looks like it will be a lot of fun, but who knows. I'll wait for a few reviews to see how it is when it's released.

But it definitely looks like it has that crackdown/gta feel/flow to it. (which I tend to like)

They've talked on the APB podcast (check Youtube) about having alternate subscription models. I think the company ending failure that is Crimecraft is only helping the case for something other than sizable monthly fees.
