Quantcast

At Japan's AOU 2010, the big game for Sega is Project DIVA Arcade, a rhythm game based on virtual idol Hatsune Miku. This is related to the PSP game of the same name, but now with big ol' backlight buttons and a huge, flashy cabinet to go along with its beat-style game play.

According to Gigazine, an IC card with your stored data is used to start the game. Simply tap it on the cabinet and your data is loaded. Japanese video community Nico Nico Douga has a partnership with Sega, and will regularly supply new song content for the game. This game is going to live forever!

Project DIVA Arcade, which uses Sega's Ringedge arcade board, will be hitting Japanese arcades by early summer. I wouldn't count on seeing too many of these cabs in the US.

In the gallery below you'll find some screenshots and cabinet images. Below the jump you'll find video examples of the song selection and IC card function.

The Nico Nico partnership could be really interesting. :] I never played the PSP version, but considering my love for all things VOCALOID, I've been considering it. Cabinet looks good, too...sort of like the original meets Pop'n Music. Nice post. :]

Elite Beat Pros, will demolish this game.

Is it me or are the taps off beat of the song?

WHOA, she's in the game? I thought she was a fan-VOCALOID (or is that just an alternate costume/hairstyle?). I've liked the way she looked (and her eyebrows!). Can't say I remember her name, though. VOCALOID & Toho aren't mah specialties. *drowns out sanity with "Vegetable Juice"*

Another great example of innovation, I am glad to find it. There are so many developers working on this segment but this is one of the best innovative idea ever. Thanks for sharing it here.

I think we need to bring more ideas for this purpose. Involvement of young people can be handy in this regard. I am happy to find a good post here. Thank you

Well, too bad most of the cool japanese music arcade games only stay in Japan. I'm one of those with wishful-thinking that one a day a miracle will happen that some of them are going out of the country. occupational therapist salary
