We've already reported the rumor that"The Touch" would be coming to Guitar Hero at some point. However, everyone out there preparing to relive their childhood better take a moment and sit down. The Tom and Dan podcast has reported that the rumored version of 'The Touch' coming to Guitar Hero will not be the original but a rerecording of the song that is being featured in the upcoming Transformers movie, Rise of the Fallen.
All I have to say is that if it's this version you can count me out. Did the makers of the Transformers movies learn nothing from casting Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime? You don't mess with perfection, people! Stan Bush nailed it the first time, there's no reason to go back and do it again. Would you ask DaVinci to repaint the Mona Lisa? Should Welles re-shoot Citizen Kane? Should Miyamoto redesign Super Mario Bros.? No, I say. No, no, no. Perfection after the jump.

One of the first songs I learnt to play on guitar and it's just a damn travesty that it's taken this long for it to appear in a GH/RB game. If it is some shitty remix or reworked new recording, blood shall be spilt.

I was listening to Spectre General this morning on the treadmill. Every time it comes on I imagine flames burning on my shoulders Akuma-style and I want to run through the street flipping over cars. The nerd in me is intense.
WHY!? Why did they do that to this song? I loved the old song, and figured "How bad could it be?"
Oh God. What have I done to deserve this?
Also, Destructoid is really weirdly formatted right now. Tables are broken everywhere, my icon's in the middle of another image, the tags are in weird places.... somethin's broke.
here's his rejected update that was to be used in the last movie. they denied it calling it too 1980s, as if the transformers arn't 80s anymore. it's not as amazing as the original but it's a lot better than this 09 touch.
That version of The Touch is almost as bad as the first Michael Bay Transformers. I hope they do use that one so this new movie doesn't accidentally have something good in it.
It had better not be that version being added to Guitar Hero. I was one of those guys campaigning for The Touch, even set up a dorky facebook group for it, and I want the real version. Not a pandering to the kids linkin park-esque version.
You know, if this was retro Transformers, then I'd want the old school Stan Bush song. But this isn't my Transformers circa 1985, and whether you like it or not, the old version would be way out of place in the movie. Besides, the new Linkin Park style works; at least they got Stan Bush to sing the lyrics again.
For GH though, they should put both versions on it... maybe have the original as a bonus song if you can get 5 stars on the new one.
And ScottyG, erm... Wayne's World? I didn't think that was so obscure.
I like Linkin Park. I don't like them singing this song. The rapping doesn't fit. If Linkin Park was going to sing it, they should have gotten Chester to sing the part rather than Shinoda. Atleast then it would be somewhat decent. Seriously, the rapping sucks and doesn't fit at all.
I've never heard this song before, as I missed out on Transformers when I was a kid (I was born in the 80s, so maybe it's a UK thing)... that song is retro-tastic, while the new version is pants!
I gave the new version a chance. I really did. I tried to put my love of the original and my dislike of Linkin Park aside. It didn't work. I almost punched the screen... must. kill. Michael Bay.
