thats it
Im organizing a road trip to this fuckers office
any other californians who are pissed off can come with me
Say it ain't so...
Videogame Violence is his political platform for re-election. He doesn't care about the children; he cares about his seat. This ruling of the Supreme Court is the veritable wrench on his governtment salary machine. He can't persuit videogames on the grounds of pornography or public safety anymore because they are now recognized as protected by the 1st Amendment; this is the endgame and he knows it.
Having the sales banned would actually deprive rights.
The good news is that this jackass will be leaving the California State Senate. The bad news is that is because he's running to become the next mayor of San Francisco, which is currently the seat of many a game and game news company, including Destructoid. Hopefully he'll drop this pet cause once he's out of state politics, but I'll believe it when I see it.
AH yes WAL-MART.. The same folks who kept most games and other "evil" stuff from us for YEARS only to figure out how completely stupid it was to do so.. Go good senator, go on and fight the expensive fight (that'll probably get you replaced).
Forget it's California and that the politicians there are Democrats.
"What?! An American politician wasting exorbitant amounts of the peoples money to suit his whims in accommodation of a radical plan of censorship supported by only the most idiotic or extreme conservative viewpoints?"
The guy's a liberal democrat. The "conservative" happens to be the Supreme court judge that slammed down his law and was most vocally against it.
Too quick in jumping on the bandwagon, eh?

I'm not advocating for anything here, just trying to show that the typical "he's x so he's evil" is pure nonesense.
I think Jim is justified in his choice of words and his tone because despite Leland's defeat there will be others like him. There will always be politicians that want to scapegoat whatever the new medium of media is while they see the entertainment industry and the disregard of responsible use of the taxpayer's money as their stepping stones to power.
The rights of parents? Like what, the right to show some responsibility and monitor what your children are playing?
The asshole is trying to become San Francisco's mayor, you know. I'm glad I don't live in SF anymore, as I don't have to think about voting for him...ok, thinking over, I wouldn't.
To be fair, I'm sure that the bleeding heart liberals out there are just as bad on this particular issue. It seems to attract the more extreme from both sides.
Don't worry, I didn't mean you specifically. It's just usually with political discussions on the internet, people fall into partisan bickering the moment the terms "liberals" or "conservatives" are uttered.
Video games are no different, and that is what this whole case came down to. They should not be treated differently from any other media.
It is true that kids should not be playing such games. But stores do not sell them to kids either. There is no major store in the US that allows any employee to sell a game to a minor. End of story. No laws needed.
I know a lot of you only seem to get information that is as balanced as the Daily Show writers feel that week, but facts are facts. Asshats with designs to control still more aspects of our lives pretty much dominate the entire political establishment, whether it's groping us at the airport, tracking our car milage to "save the planet" despite the small size of greenhouse gases the entire transportation sector accounts for, or appropriating our income through taxation. If you don't like that, consider your third party options before brainlessly pulling the lever for D or R to continue a destructive status quo.
????? I got news for you Mr. Yee, if I sell a damn M rated video game to a minor I get fucking fired. Do you think I want to be fired from my job in this shit faced economy. The parent has to give consent for minors to purchase M rated video games. You should be asking parents to give a fuck instead of trying to create stupid ass laws.
I ID anyone who could be under the age of 17 (Wal-Mart policy). Fair and simple, they show ID or they don't get their game.
2. What does Walmart have to do with video games? Sure, they sell them, but why not bring up Game Stop? Does this guy even know anything about video games?
Any-who, Great day for our pastime!!
