I love watching Anonymous do crazy stuff like this just to see what happens. Not saying that I agree with everything they do, but they always put on an entertaining show, that's for sure.

Stephen: Justified? I don't know. But I definitely think a lot of the targets Anon's gone after before have been far worse in their business/legal practices, so I'm hard pressed to vilify Anonymous as much as others do.
I do think the group can get drunk on its own sense of power, and can definitely go too far. I also wonder whether it's not as invincible as it thinks it is and does run the risk of fucking its own interests if it bites the wrong hand.
Still, my main point is that I can't think of a target Anon's "officially" gone after that deserved my sympathies.

@UltorOscariot - Its Hollywood that's trying to getting this rammed through Congress. Sony is a HUGE part of the recording industry as well as movies, TV and video games. They are a massive entertainment conglomerate that has spent over a decade being backward as hell and persecuting customers and advocating censorship where its convenient for them.
The musicians and actors defending it? Many of them are touched by Sony in some way or another.
Game companies I'm not so hard on about this as they probably just blindly jumped on it because they like the idea of IP protection and didn't read into the ramifications of the bill.
But Sony has made a career of making enemies of the consumer and preventing freedom with media. Remember Napster? They tried their best to restrict our ability to enjoy music the way we wanted to through copy protections and prosecution.
This is just another page in Sony's long history of doing this. Nintendo,, EA, Konami and the like can't even hold a candle to it and their involvement is a bit more unwitting. Microsoft made like a bat out of hell because they knew the implications were this to backfire on them.

I can't really say I support the idea of taking "vengeance" on somebody for supporting SOPA. Instead of going apeshit about it and attacking them, why not do what needs to be done and EDUCATE people why it's wrong to support SOPA. If Sony supports SOPA, and is attacked by Anon for it, I can only see this adding fuel to the fire.

Why can't Sony support SOPA? Yeah it goes against what we all think, but we live in a world where choices are individual. If you actually listen to the SOPA discussions, they aren't even going to pass through.

This, along with their "attacks on national security" will only ensure that SOPA is passed. I agree with the principles, but certainly not the actions. Far too heavy handed and self-righteous for my taste.

Sony thinks we should legislate away our freedom for the economic good... so that certain industries can survive instead of either die or evolve.
