Damn right. But ugh, I hate Anon. They're just so.....smug. I hate smug people.
Except for myself.
All you need to do is have a creepy puppet uttering these hackneyed, childish decrees via a VHS recording and you have the worst Saw movie ever.
Why does it have to be a video game company? What about all the other companies that are non-game related that support it.
They just don't seem to realize that they only make things worse. Just like hacking the network was sure to prove that consumers deserve freedom and will use it responsibly, attacks over SOPA where they'll likely only hurt the people they claim to be protecting, prove SOPA should be passed in the process, and leave Sony basically unharmed like they did before. Anyone that supports this is retarded.
In the US you have the right to boycott a business if it supports ideals that you don't. You do not however have the right to take a baseball bat into the establishment, destroy the store, and assault their customers because you don't agree with their views. That is exactly what Anonymous did the last time they pulled this stunt with Sony. It did not garner support then from most of the PSN users and it won't again if they do it again. Eventually people will start supporting stronger legislation against people that do stuff like this. It will result in more SOPA type legislation and not less. They need to find a less destructive way of expressing their point if they want the public to support them. I know many people that put them one step away from a terrorist group because of the tactics they choose to use. I've seen hackers that take stuff apart and rather that posting it for the world to see they go to people in the company or people in other offices to make their point without exposing the userbase to the same kind of headaches that Anonymous has done. If you want the people to support you, you need to think of others caught in the crossfire.
WTF is Sony thinking? They need to step up and do the right thing for once.
Sony needs to learn that their "Fuck Everyone" attitude just isn't acceptable anymore.

While I'm against piracy, I don't believe going to jail for downloading a game fits the crime.
SOPA is scary and will change the face of the Internet as we know it. YouTube will become a ghost town after many users are slapped with fines or jail time for making videos using copyrighted music. People will be too scared to post new ideas for fear they may be infringing upon copyrights.
Our ability to use the Internet to exchange ideas and free information will be heavily impacted. Nothing will ever be the same. SOPA must be stopped. If my ability to play games online is temporarily stopped so that SOPA can be better brought into the spotlight of mainstream media then so be it.
I find it quite disgusting, even if for a noble cause.
Again, Microsoft and Nintendo (as well as Sony) STILL indirectly support SOPA via the Entertainment Software Alliance.

No one wants sopa to get passed, that's why we need anon to fuck off. An attack on Sony would do nothing but give them ammo to see this bill through not to mention actually justifying their actions.
if there were any attack from them at all Sony would drag it right in front of congress a say " you see this, this is why sopa needs to be passed" and they would be right.
hell like I said earlier what these fools did in april is what kick started this in the first place.
Exactly this. I'm not that anonymous group supporter, but it's a dick move of Sony (or any company) to support SOPA, when they owe their existence to their costumers. Who the hell are they to tells us what to do?
I also won't cry for them if any of them gets attacked, might as well bring them SOPA if they want it so much.
@Jim Sterling: It doesn't affect you too negatively when a network goes down because you know that the competing sites don't have an upper hand either. Also no one blames the reviewer for it (as they shouldn't).
So to say that the network going down is so destructive to you is a bit of a stretch.
If Anonymous was threatening to club these people instead of ruining their finances and violating their protected right to privacy, a lot more people wouldn't be on the fence about this.
I don't need their fucking brand of freedom.
Also, lol @ anyone who thinks Lady Gaga is unique or original. Maybe the horrendous fashion, but if you actually listen to the music, you'll find it's just the same old mainstream shit.
Your textbook definition of Terrorism reminds me of what republicans did in their many "debates" this year. It also reminds me of anything a government has ever told anyone in the past decade.
Apparently this internet is free and democratic, as long as you don't say or do something that displeases those willing to harass and destroy your lives over it, if it doesn't quite jive with their line of thinking.
But such hypocrisy shouldn't be surprising, coming from a bunch of children posing as digital Guevaras.
I don't quite remember any Republican singling out specific people or institutions for harassment and/or violence. And I've watched every single one of them.
Countries, yes.
One is terrorism, the other isn't.
Also seems the people saying fuck sony and I support this really want sopa to be passed. Also funny that people don\'t think nintendo or microsoft have anything to do with sopa anymore. Seems like your fanboy logic is making you delusional to what could be the end of the internet as we know it. :(
Honestly I do not feel sorry for them one bit cause they have literally done everything wrong they could possibly do to their community, taking features away that were promised.
The fact that they do support SOPA means they are spending our millions of dollars to get lobbyist that will pay off politicians to vote in a certain direction.
As a consumer I do not want my money supporting the SOPA bill and I cease and desist from purchasing their services. (luckily I do not own a PS3)
However Denying people products and services that they already paid for Is the wrong way to react to this SOPA announcement.
In all reality the best way to get their attention is to not buy the PS vita.
I support them now, yes I can live without PSN for a while if it means someone fights this battle! This is not the time to rollover and die thats what they count on keep the people quiet by letting them
hope it wont be as bad if they just dont fight back! You know what kind of logic that is hoping that the ones who have all the power take it easy on you?
We are past educating people and while I think just going after Sony is wrong im prepared to role the dice..Just cause fighting back can make it worse doess not mean I wish to get on my knees to beg for mercy. Call em terrorrists all you want but thats what resistance usually is called, it just depends on your perspective...
I am more willing to suffer because someone fights this battle then to suffer because nobody fought just because I didn't like to be inconvenienced. So yes I support anonymous on this one I just hope they take down every single one not just focus on Sony!
Anonymous are nothing more than bullies and digital terrorists, worse even they are cowardly little pricks who think that people are going to joing their cause, personally I wish they would just fuck off and leave us in peace.
If you want to attack sony anonymous, leave us gamers alone and do something constructive. Only good hacker is a fucking dead one.
At best it's not going to actually achieve anything.
Sony's Support isn't integral to the Bill, The only way this goes down well is if it's only a threat from anon and sony actually back down(probably unlikely).
The fact is it's just going to support the internet is the wild west theory and that in order to protect not only copyright but the sensitive data that exists on it things like SOPA must pass.
I'd be more understanding if it was simply a co-ordinated attack. against all the SOPA companies.
---
Though personally i think(Though it would probably come of just as negatively) the best idea would be not to fight against these companies. But merely attack sites which SOPA will threaten, It might not be friendly to youtube and other sites to be taken down. But if Google is unwilling to take a stand against SOPA. How do you think the general populace would respond if Youtube was hacked and replaced with SOPA takedown notices. While they wouldn't be legit the fact that such a thing could actually happen could draw more attention to the cause than attacking a solitary supporter of SOPA especially considering that the attacks could cause a bigger issue for the actual customers using the PSN than anything else.
And if the PSN does go down, the rage at sony isn't going to be as a result of SOPA, it's going to be a result of the fact that they got hacked again, Who hacked them and why is going to be largely irrelevant to the average joe
Persuing your opinions and beliefs electorally is what will allow this act to pass. Users of the Internet have little say beyond picking who represents us.
America wasn't built upon democracy, it was built upon a violent revolution (ironically enough, your namesake). While democracy is the best governmental system we have, sometimes it just does not work.
Sitting on our thumbs and letting democracy decide everything may well one day end up with all of our rights and freedoms being voted away.
"Every person shall be free to use the Internet in any way that is privately beneficial without being publicly detrimental."
SOPA is in stark contrast to the first law of the Internet. It goes against everything that the creators of the Internet intended. When does suppressing access to the Internet start and stop when it comes to stopping copyright infringement. If SOPA passes it will only be the first of many bills to suppress information on the net. The US will be no better than China on this front.
People are far too concerned about minor inconveniences to their personal lives. Video games are nothing in the grand scheme of things. Think about the world beyond your TV for a once. All those freedoms our grandparents fought for in the world wars are slowly being eroded around us and we're all content as long as we can still be distracted by virtual nonsense.
Wake up.
What I do agree with them is attempting to scare Sony out of SOPA support, and if that is all Anonymous is, then good.
