Anime on your Xbox 360: Crunchyroll partnership announced photo

The kids that watch anime will definitely know about video streaming portal Crunchyroll. This site has managed to change the entire U.S.-based industry in just a few short years, earning video exclusives and near-simulcasts of popular Japanese content. The companies that make DVDs? They're shutting down while Crunchyroll is growing.

Their expansion continues with this new partnership with Microsoft for the Zune Marketplace. This brings popular anime like The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and Giant Killing to the Xbox 360, Zune HD and Windows PCs. Giant Killing is especially notable as it is currently airing in Japan. North American users of Microsoft's services can enjoy the show in the same week as the Japanese. The release of the titles onto Zune Marketplace marks the first time any of
the titles have ever been available for digital download purchase.

The launch of this partnership will feature the above mentioned shows as well as Yokuwakaru Gendai Maho. I'm betting there's plenty more where that came from.

Hm. I'm somewhat interested, but I'm not going to pay for Live, Netflix, AND this.

I've never been a fan of Crunchyroll. I wish they'd partner with Netflix or something, as I really don't wanna pay for more and more services, as cool as they are.

I'll be re-watchable and loanable DVDs , which are cheaper than they have ever been for anime. I'm the kind of nerd that collects everything related to my hobby, so this is not aimed at me.

It's about time M$ realized when too much is too much. Netflix, hulu, zune, and now crunchyroll? I'd say bundle em all up into one big discounted monthly payment. Time to partner up M$

You know whats cool, being able to go to CR on my PS3 and play videos in 720p, and not having to pay some LIVE fee

They better have the episode of Queen's Blade that PSN pulled. Life just isn't as bright without acid-breast suicide.

Also the Datte Bayo team are better at subbing than the ones that CR gets,,

I'd rather get it for free online, then wait for a DVD/Bluray release than put more money in Crunchyroll's pocket, personally.

The fact its available is a great thing.
That it'll assuredly be one more subscription to pay on top of XBLA, and that with 99% certainty they wont bring it up here to Canada, is sad.

The worst part is that Crunchyroll's subs are completely piss poor when compared to the fan translations so i'll continue to torrent anime series until CR hires a good localization group.

why i gotta pay my Geico bill, electric bill, water bill, tuition, all on top of my cable, cell phone, and high speed internet bills? Can they not just roll them all up into one!?

@ qlum

Hulu has a bunch of anime shows that are current with the Jap release. They just added bleach (shit) and had naruto: ship. for a while now. Viz has a lot of shows online which you'll find on hulu.

i used to love Crunchyroll. They had everything. I think it's cool how they've managed to become more legit over the years.

CR sucks guys their subs are amateurish and who'd gonna wanna pay monthly for low quality translation/subs they suck fansubs FTW oh and CR's quality sucks too the bitrate is low and all the anime that CR got so far are those that are Stationed Upscaled by TV Tokyo and none of the anime CR is translating are Real HD so you're just wasting money

Awesome, but hopefully you don't have to pay for it. I don't think I'll pay for something that I can watch on YouTube for free. Also, what character is that Anime from? Looks a bit like Holland from Eureka Seven.

That's the main character from Giant Killing, a soccer anime that currently running, which I hear is alright.

Nice that some get Crunchyroll on their 360's, but what about those outside the U.S?
