Anime fan alert: Haruhi Suzumiya title confirmed as a dancing game photo

If you know your anime, you know the name Haruhi Suzumiya (and if you don't, the series that features her, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzimiya, is a very popular series.) A PSP and a PS2 game came out last year in Japan based on the series, but America has yet to see any such thing (and likely won't, which is what importing is for.)

Speaking of importing, you'll have to do that if you want to check out this year's game anout Haruhi, which is a Wii game and apparently focuses on dancing. From Playkon:

 "The latest Haruhi game for the Wii will be a dancing game, involving timing Haruhi and company's dancing with the Wiimote. (...) there will be a story mode advanced by skillful dancing, a free mode in which you can freely choose costumes, music and stage, and the dancing will be accomplished with three characters, so Kyon is unlikely to feature with Haruhi, Nagato and Mikuru on hand. Apparently, there will also be a version packaged with a figure."

For a girl who is both a fan of the anime and of nutty rhythm games, this sounds like pure heaven. Check out the Famitsu scans in the gallery if you feel the same. I will import this the day it comes out and dance around in my living room like I have epilepsy. By the way, if you like Haruhi enough to want a figure of her, I hear there's a place around these parts that has a lot of info on that.

[Thanks Jonathan!]

I'm just waiting for the novels to be translated.
Yes, I know there are fan translations. I've read them. I just want an official translation so I can buy the books 10 times over. Orgasm.

Dancing games are meh. But I'll buy it regardless.

I've never seen a single haruhi episode, I really need to find out what the fuss is all about.

@Kyousuke Nanbu:
No you don't.

As much as I hate the fans of this show I admit I always did want to try out the dance since I first saw it.

I wanna make sure I get this series right.

Is this the series involving the girl into aliens and the paranormal? The one where the alien and paranormal come to entertain her, because if she gets bored, she has a unique ability to destroy reality and create her own?

@Quiotu:
Something like that. Whatever you do, though, don't believe anyone if they allude to any godly powers attributed to the main character.

Oh god, I was JUST going to ask about that figure, Colette. Thanks for sparing me the trouble of digging around for it.

Anywho, dancing games haven't really worked on the Wii yet, but if the final stage is something along the lines of the end credits dance over a pit of hot lava, then I'm down.

I wish season 2 of Haruhi would come out already. While you can't rush perfection my fears the second season won't meet the high bar the previous season set.

Psh, the Hare Hare Yukai dance is soooo out. It's all about the Motte Sailor Fuku, until they make another Haruhi dance to kill that one.

Pft, MSF has nothing on HHY. =p

Anyway, sort of off-topic: What the hell ever happened to that Haruhi PS2 RPG? I presume it isn't coming to the US...?

No U.S. release? Do they not look at the DVD sales? God damn't. I went through hell and high water (and a month long wait), to get my hands on Ouendan, but think that a para para game on the wii would do well.

And Johnny Yong Bosch needs to royalties!
