Yes, I know. You're not so much for the anime. You leave that to the guys next door at Japanator. But you don't mind the videogame cosplay so much, right? We've put together a large gallery of the (mostly) videogame-based cosplay at this past weekend's Anime Expo 2008 for your viewing enjoyment.
Also worked into the collection are snapshots of AX 2008's 24-hour arcade, which was pretty great by even gamer's standards. In it, everything from air hockey tables to the latest Capcom fighters helped congoers fill in their down time. Of course, this being an anime convention, the dancing games and the Initial D racing cabinets got the most attention. Well, the most attention after the scantily clad cosplayers.
Enjoy, and if you dig this sort of thing, be sure to check out Japanator's coverage of the event.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
1. they are typically hot or mostly naked, sometimes both.
2. I always get the impression they are frighteningly obsessed with dressing up so much that it weirds me out a bit.
No offense to the cosplayers here, I just don't know many cosplayers personally and they always come off as kinda stuck up at cons and such.
I'll be over here with my foot in my mouth now that I've said that.
Eh, I've known/met a good number of cosplayers in real life (i.e. OUTSIDE of conventions) and they're generally a nice bunch. There are definitely some odd ones and assholes like you said, but I don't think it's really worse than any other equally-fanatical group like Trekkies or sports fans - though each group does tend to have their unique "flavor" of asshole.
That last part sounded pretty bad, didn't it?
How long would that have taken to build??
seriously Dale, you can't SAY you saw a hot one in one article and then not have the proof to back it up. WHY DO YOU HATE ME?
GIANT FUCKING PRINNY!!
but I said that for the girl cosplaying as velvet.
I will say that I do like some of the costumes - the one as the exploding penguin (forget what they're called) is great, as well as the one dressed as the Wiimote.
But most cosplay costumes are very unimaginative, and look quite bad. But hey, that's what they do for fun. At least it's better than standing around in the sun all day watching someone hit a ball across a field with a wooden stick.
"We're not worthy! We're not worthy!"
D00D!
Looks like just the Odin Sphere Velvet cosplayer was hot to me.
I know how you feel. O_O She's got everything right; the hair, the costume, the make-up...
@ RobotFart;
Yeah, that makes the person cosplaying next to him pale in comparison.
@ Nintendoll;
PRINNY!!! ^_^

Odin Sphere cosplay hotties and a GIANT PRINNY!
This is only the second-most awesome thing I've seen in the past 24 hours.
Miyu actually got the costume wrong, btw. Just to make myself feel better.
