Animales de la Muerte rises from the grave for XBLA, PSN photo

Yet another downloadable title ditches the WiiWare platform for the (apparently) cozier confines of the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network. This time it's High Voltages crazy-looking top-down shooter, Animales de la Muerte.

Originally announced as a WiiWare exclusive, the game will be hitting PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade for realsies in... okay, the the developer isn't saying just yet. But High Voltage isn't messing around anymore, and have shown the game to IGN, who said the developer "has enough going on here to make for a memorable experience."

Caveat: apparently the game is still "very much a work in progress," and "the game's graphics won't blow you away" despite running on a new engine to take advantage of the new platforms. If you recall, the game was first announced in 2008, making it the Duke Nukem Forever of downloadable games featuring zombie walruses.

Still, we're talking about zombie walruses here. That's worth the wait, right?

Dang.

Well, at least there's still the Nintendo Channel. That wizard gag doesn't get old...

I'll just add this to my list of "I'd-give-the-demo-a-try" vaporware titles and go about my business playing games that actually exist, and waiting for games that have actual release dates.

Vaporware: making gamers not believe a fucking word that developers say until the game is in stores since 1982.

Excited for this game, but I have low expectations. I have a feeling this could be a sleeper cult hit.

And it'll be delayed over and over, like a Valve game!

Maybe it's better if this game just stays dead.

Was too awesome for the WiiWare, glad it's coming to XBLA. Hope it's worth the wait, definitely looked funny.

Sad to see another game leave WiiWare, but as long as I still get to play it that's fine.

I don't know if this game is ever going to come out though

First theirs Conduit 2 and Conduit 3DS which will be given top priority

then there's the Grinder Wii and PSN/XBLA versions which are still far from finished, and that will be given higher priority than this aswell. I don't see How High Voltage is going to make the time to finish this game when they're a little studio working on 4 other titles

HVS is an awful company. Do not support their illegal work conditions by buying this.

High Voltage always seems eager to satisfy Nintendo fans but so far I've been disappointed 2 for 2. Like 'em for trying, but maybe they should keep schtum with their pre-press/PR until they know what they're doing is good.

Conduit was a really poor game.

Honestly I can't blame them from leaving WiiWare. Small market, difficult distribution of patches and hideous size limits.
Looks nice and colourful though.

According to HVS comments over the last few years, it didn't come out as a WiiWare title because it didn't fit within the WiiWare size restrictions. HVS didn't feel they could/should trim the game to fit. They supposedly tried to get Nintendo to raise the size limits or give them a pass on it, and I guess were holding out hope that Nintendo's future memory solutions would raise the limit?

They considered a full disc release for Wii, but decided against it. So the game fell into limbo even before The Grinder. They said that they were still doing things with it when they had spare time, but like The Grinder it didn't have a definite future.

I hope HV puts a little easter egg in the game that's a thinly-veiled jab at Nintendo.

I sincerely wish I could provide some evidence. If you look up HVS, you'll see articles about their constant lay offs. If anyone has been part of major lay offs, then you know there was shady stuff in the background. I could list off all the crap; but if I can't 'prove' it, then you won't care.
