Want to watch a slow paced, ten-minute dev diary with the developers of Animal Crossing 3DS? No? Well then, I'll run down the highlights for you! Either way, you are about to get the facts on the new Animal Crossing whether you like it or not. As previously reported, in Animal Crossing 3DS, you are the mayor. That means you can develop the town... or not. You can add benches and street lamps... or not. Like almost everything in the Animal Crossing series, your mayoral duties are entirely optional. Regardless of how crappy of a mayor you are, you'll get yourself a mayor's secretary. The game's director calls her "Shizu". She is a shaggy dog lady with yellow ears. It seems like she cries a lot.
On the customization front, you can now alter your furniture with new patterns, and you can change the outer walls, fence, and mailbox of your house too. As for your character, separate bottoms and tops for clothes have been reconfirmed. Also confirmed is that women can wear pants or skirts. Boys might be able to wear skirts too. That bit remains unconfirmed. The village itself is a little different now too. The beach is bigger (probably to accommodate the new swimming and diving gameplay), and there is shopping mall out back (which probably replicates the "city" from Animal Crossing: City Folk).
There are other little details that are almost too minuscule to mention. Tom Nook is now a real estate agent, you can look at other people's houses via Streetpass, bears are now bigger, squirrels are now smaller, 39-year-old males like playing Animal Crossing for the "realism", and so forth. That's all builds up to the end of the video, which features K.K. Slider himself Kazumi Totaka playing new music for Animal Crossing 3DS on his acoustic guitar.
It may be a new song, but it sounds comfortingly familiar, which is exactly what I want out of a "new" Animal Crossing game. Give me the same old relaxing, vacation-style experience with a few new bugs to catch, fish to fish, and stuff to do, and I'll be happy. Looks like I'll be very happy when Animal Crossing 3DS is released sometime next year.

Damm, I'm a sucker for this easygoing Nintendo style. It's so refreshing with all the trashtalking and SUPAH-AWESOME talk that most western devs fall for. Which is kind of ironic, because I've always seen japanese commercials and PR as being over-the-top. Gimme this chill, inviting ambience over Kevin Butler anyday.
I felt a bit burned after the Wii version, but ai'm willing to give this a shot if it'll rekindle my love for the original. Something tells me I won't have the patience to deal with the game's simplicity and drudgery any longer.
I hope there's more than a couple of changes. After watching this, though, I think it sounds like the same. That's not bad per se, but I felt like the Wii version was way too similar for $50.
I guess I can pick up this AC game after skipping out on the wii version, K.K. slider always has awesome music ESPECIALLY go K.K. Rider, the brawl remix of that song is amazing
I'm so excited to waste hundreds of hours collecting furniture again. I'm normally not into these types of games, but this game just has this charm that's got me addicted. I'm happy to see that they finally made so much needed changes, I skipped out on City Folk because it seemed to similar to Wild World. I really think this is going to be the best Animal Crossing.
The only thing Wild World was missing for me was Holidays. I love the Holidays in City Folk and hope they return in force in AC3DS. Nothing like walking around your town at night and seeing christmas lights. Speaking of which, that would be a cool addition...decorate the outside of your house for holidays.
It's nice to see more customization features being added.
The thing I hated about city folk was the grass. I stopped playing the game because my town ended up looking like a desert from all the grass dying on me. I hope they fix the "dirt paths" feature in this game or I'll be skipping this one.
The last color I want to see in a Animal crossing game is brown.
Even though I'm not into Animal Crossing, I have to admit it has a very addicting and relaxing quality that sucks you in. I played it for 5 hours before I realized I wasonly meaning to play a few minutes to see what it was about.
This sounds SO much better than City Folk! And that's awesome that they had a real reason for making them taller, I don't hate the character models as much now.
I want this game inside my 3DS ASAP,it's sounding like an even better version of Wild World and that sounds damn great to me...hopefully Holidays are back for this one.

Animal Crossing: Brotherhood
Love when two completely different things have the same acronym...
also, i did not see the video, so i do not know if thats what it was about or not. however, i am assuming that is NOT what it was about.

SOME effort. This game deserves to be the mmo-like game it should be.
Also furniture like pinpall tables and tvs should be usable and not just there for decoration. Seriously, DEPTH Nintendo.
But to be honest, it'd be much more functional and awesome in my 3DS.
