Angry moron threatens GameStop workers with death photo

I'm sure we've all thought about killing a GameStop worker, but none of us are stupid enough to go into a store and actually promise it. One man in Michigan did, after failing to return his Xbox 360 without a receipt, and promptly got himself arrested for it.

The 43-year-old man was enraged over the store's refusal to accept his console without a receipt and said he would kill somebody. This was taken seriously enough to warrant the arrival of a team of cops in "active shooter response" mode. Employees and customers waited in the back while the cops set about slamming the man into a counter and arresting him on the spot. A search of his bag found a stun gun -- illegal in Michigan -- which the man tried to claim was for self defense.

"It was an interesting day here at the GameStop," said worker David Roman.

He shoud've made a threat of sticking that xbox up the employee's ass. That would be funny.

A search of his bag, cops found a bottle of enema--which the man claimed was for his wife.

Also,

"....failing to return his Xbox 360 without a receipt..."
"...enraged over the store's refusal to accept his console with a receipt.."

Sounds like somewhat of a contradiction to me, I could be wrong I'm not a nazi grammer person :/

Maybe it's just me (strong possibility), but doesn't blurting out in frustration and anger you could just kill somebody...am I the only one who's said that but it was actually vague, not meant at any individual and was more venting than the literal urge to take life?

Hey, I wasn't there and all I know about anything or anyone involved was this article.
Maybe he was a deranged lunatic. I'm just saying my spider sense with the limited details wonders if it's more that people are so jumpy and scared they might have over reacted to an admittedly stupid thing to say. Just, he might have simply had a minor temper tantrum and used the wrong words. Maybe the pigs need to chill out a level or two before throwing people down.

Just a thought. Aw screw it. Taze him and Youtube it. I need some entertainment right this second.

Oh noes we better all hate on Jim, he doesn't lie to us to make us feel better about ourselves and our purchases!

Anyhoo, @mix, article link says without, but more importantly also says

"Lyczkowski said the man could face charges for possession of a stun gun, a four-year felony, and disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor."

So in other words, the guy could get quite a bit more punishment out of having the stun gun, as opposed to actually threatening the poor employees with death, another glorious use of our judicial system, though at least it will hopefully keep him from pulling a stunt like this again.

My old boss at Gamestop actually had one of his co-workers die in a holiday rush. He refused to open the register for a disgruntled customer and the customer promptly bludgeoned him with a blunt object and duct taped the man's face and nose. The employee suffocated to death, so this threat isn't the worst thing.

Article says he tried to return in it, threatened them, then told them he was going to his car to get something. I doubt many people promise to kill people and then tell them they're going out to their cars to 'get something'.

Jim. Someone said what I wanted to say about the reciept. Did he have it or not? I presume no, considering if the guy had one, shouldn't be an issue.

Didn't Jim Sterling say that he wanted to kill George Lucas on this week's podcast? Isn't that sorta the same thing? So, I guess when it comes to saying your are going to inflict harm on somebody comes down to context:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEQOvyGbBtY

Now, I've worked on both sides of the counter at GameStop. When I worked register, I heard far worse than, "I'm going to kill somebody if they don't return this console." Hell, there was worse said by customers when we didn't get enough strategy guides for the launch of Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for N64.

As a customer of GameStop, I have definitely wanted to punch a few of the shower-less, a-holes employees that tell me a game I am picking up is 'retarded.'

There is always two sides of the story, but I guess a good rule of thumb is, "when escalating your threats of violence, please don't carry weapons (lethal or no) on your person. It just doesn't help your case."

Its really simple, if you don't produce your receipt then you can trade it in (aslong it ain't opened) and if it is still unopened and you got your receipt then no problem.

I usually get it the other way. I've wanted to punch shower-less, a-hole customers that demand me pick a game out for them, and then blatently go back and buy the worse piece of shovelware they can find, and tell me I don't know anything. I'm not sorry those people bought Carnival Games against my better judgement, HA. Serves them right.

I'd NEVER kill a Gamestop employee. I mean every now and then I might knock one down and take a dump on his chest while he cries, and record it with my phone's camera and put the whole thing on youtube and then preorder a game, but actually killing a gamestop employee is way beyond the pale.

I had a customer start threatening me last week where I work. Over two £3 xbox games he'd picked up from the shelf and then promptly tried to return, obviously recieptless.

I have never seen my boss get quite so angry.

Haha reminds me of a manager of another store in the mall coming in and threatening an employee of ours that we wouldn't take his trade without his ID (It's required in my area) and threatened to "take him out back." Also last year some guy was angry over his trade for Madden 2008 with an awesome value of $0.25 (Because we had the game on "sale" for $3 at the time) and threatened to kill us all... needless to say it was dumb of both of those guys to do that in a mall store when we're across the security booth :b

I've never had a problem with Gamestop or a Gamestop employee. I bought Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes for my GC when I was 13, the first time I bought a Mature game without one of my parents with me, and he let me have it no questions asked. I'm from MI, I wonder if it was around me...

You are quite right, there are definitely more shower-less on the customer side of the counter. I was talking about my own personal experience with a few select GameStop, Babbages, EBX employees that would berate my purchases in front of other customers. Games like 'God Hand' and 'Victorious Boxers' were, in their words, "a waste of my money."

I really have a problem with pretentious store clerks who tell me that Madden is better than anything Clover ever made because it has sold more.

I used to go to EB (basically Canadian GameStop) and had to stop going because I kept running into the preppy pale-as-fuck spiked blonde hair faggot child behind the counter who kept trying to convince me to get Nintendogs.

I had threatened him with much worse than death, actually made him cry by threatening to kidnap his DS... it was fun, but I got myself banned from the store. Anyway... my point is, dealing with the clerks at GameStop has never been a good experience, they're paid to ring up my purchase and shut the fuck up. But... it goes both ways, some of the people hanging out in there just... have to stop... existing...

Ah, the joys of working in retail. I used to work at Gamestation before weaseling my way in to Crytek, and seriously, you usually couldn't go a week without someone being threatened. I got threatened with a hammer once, which was a bit rattling, I have to say. While not a violent threat, a pal of mine once got personally accused of ruining someone's Christmas, because a brand new PS2 was apparently defective.

"Don't you test these things before you sell them?!"

Umm... durrr... it wouldn't be 'new' anymore if we did, would it.

And moreover, GameStop won't take known modded 360s, because of the very same XBL ban that may have gotten this guy to rage in the first place. In my experience, the worst GA (who doesn't get fired over whatever) isn't as bad as some of the "customers." They want what they want and they'll subconsciously make whatever "plot holes" they need to in order for things to look "win-win" in their heads... until it isn't.
