What is it with these multiplayer military shooters and their penchant for fucking over gamers? Pre-order DLC for this, $15 map packs and a "premium" subscription service for COD... bleh. Something gets insanely popular and decides it's time to start ripping people off.

I can understand that American ideal of making more money than you did the previous year. But at a certain point that need becomes so conceited. They have a huge, successful franchise that will sell just fine, but they feel the need to milk it for every Penny they can at consumer's expense. Why? When you have millions coming in, but you still need more? Nobody is ever happy with what they have.

Theres nothing in the dlc pack that will give anyone a tactical or statistical advantage over anybody else.

Regardless of if the preorder bonus for this game are overall meaningless, I think stuff like this should get protested and boycotted as much as possible so that in the future something like this wont happen in a fashion that actually does dramatically affect the game.

Pro Tip: these won't be great weapons, more than likely, you will find something better or equivalent within a half hour of playing the game. There aren't going to be only 8 guns in the game, there will be tons of weapons in this game.

Another over-opinionated article by Jim Stirling - and don't pull the "would you rather a banana wrote this?" bullshit, opinions don't stop you from looking at this from two angles. I see nothing wrong with rewarding pre-order customers for their support with a bit of extra content, assuming said content does not result in harm to the gameplay.
I am annoyed however at not getting my exclusive items unless I order from specific retailers - that right there is bullshit - I can't pre-order through my preferred site (Play) because it isn't included in the Physical Warfare package. It's one thing encouraging gamers to pre-order, but making them use specific retailers is somewhat galling.

I would have no problem if this was single player DLC, but this is just dumb on EA's part (they probably don't give a shit). The playing feild is going to be unbalanced, which is fucking terrible for a game this focussed on multiplayer.

If EA really wants to stick it to CoD they really should consider dropping their DLC prices back down to 10$. That way Activision looks like the only greedy fuckers on the block.

what I really hate is the online pass BS. I have gamefly which is great, but just pisses me off that they want people who live on a budget to suffer. And try and hurt the used game marke.

ugh this is bullshit. This isn't Play4Free. There is already a fee instated for the product and everyone should get a level playing field. I'm with the boycott which is a shame since it looks like such a promising fps.
I was preordering the game anyway so no lost to me. I could see it being a problem if it was some levels or maps but it's some guns. Not gonna change the excitement that I have for the game.
I preordered months ago because the game is going to be sick. I don't get what the fuss is all about. While I am not a fan of exclusive dlc in any fassion, this is not the first time a game has done this, in fact it seems to be industry standard by now. Every time I hear a game commercial, they are always pushing people to preorder for exclusive ingame gear. Who cares though. Take off your aim assist and get better. A bad player hardly has an advantage with a better gun.
So, all you get with the Physical Warfare pack is ONE Exclusive gun, ONE Day One gun unlock, ONE Exclusive Weapon Mod, and ONE Exclusive Ammo type.
Jim did you cay over Killzone 3 and having full unlocks and double XP for 24 hours? That was a HUGE advantage when I was playing but I didn't hear anyone complain.

First of all, it's not DICE that's choosing the preorder incentives, it's EA. Secondly, it's not just "bonus weapons". The sniper weapon allows for a better kind of ammo and increased stealth. The bonus's certainly sound like they would give a competitive advantage.

Guys, listen, it's not just predording that is the issue here. READ THE ARTICLE! It's that buying the game from a SPECIFIC RETAILER nets you content that others cannot access.
Once again, it is just a gun and some ammo right now. But when you support little things like this, you are telling the publisher it is OK, and it leads to more expansive implementations. I preorder Battlefield games anyways. This really doesn't bother me. It bothers me more that people are more willing to raise a stink about DLC, rather than say billions of dollars a month spent on war. Or little kids being blown up in said war, no let's not protest that. Let's protest some fucking DLC. This is why the world is going down the shitter.
