Home #A Winner Is You!

And the proud winner of a brand new Steampunk PC is... photo

Yeah, I know I always wax poetic when it comes to judging these contests. It's so hard, you guys are all so good, blah blah blah. It's true though: the Destructoid community has some of the most creative and clever individuals I've had the pleasure of brushing past in the comments, and you guys make it a true challenge (as well as a pleasure) to pick a winner.

For our Damnation steampunk PC contest, we were majorly impressed with quite a few of the entries. However, BattyAdroit blew us away on multiple levels. Not only did he show us what he felt steampunk was, but it brought it to the next level by showing us what Mr. Destructoid's steampunk incarnation would be. The spirit of his photoshoot truly embodied exactly what we envisioned for the winner of this contest. In other words, BattyAdroit, you are the proud owner on a brand new PC.

I hope you guys will join me in congratulating him on a fantastic job. Thanks to everyone who entered, and look for more chances to win pimp PCs (twelve of em, in fact) coming your way in the very near future!

:D

On behalf of the Destructamation crew - myself, Zizuph, Eerie, and my long-time friend/associate, photographer Andrew D. Watson, we sincerely thank everyone for their support.

We loved doing this, and we really wanted to deliver something special to you guys. Hopefully, this won't be the last collaboration between the four of us.

I felt that many of the other entries were equally strong, and in fact, I've had butterflies in my stomach all day thinking about it! There are some *extremely* creative people on this site - which is just one of several reasons that Destructoid stands as the premiere gaming-news community.

Again, we are extremely grateful for this opportunity and want to thank you all. <3

If you're interested, I will be posting a blog soon showing some rather silly pictures of the creation of the D-Mation helmet, as well as some thoughts on how the shoot was done!

No you must stop talking to the people who made that with you you freakishly talented bastards, so others can win. (namely me)

@Milestailsprowe: Well, most of the head is really made of foamboard, and modeled to look like copper/metal - in reality, it was probably only 10-15 pounds. A construction helmet is mounted to the inside by pvc pipe, so wearing it was just like wearing a headache inducing hat. :)

@Neiro: I've really wanted to check out the FNF, especially with the multiplayer aspect of Ghostbusters, and joining the Killzone team(s?) - maybe a personal endorsement from you is all that I've needed.

@Wedge: Oh yes, most certainly I will use this as my main PC - my current rig is starting to show it's age, I haven't upgraded it since 2003! - and I'm glad you noticed the ears!

@Everyone - thank you for the awesome comments. I am most certainly basking in the love today!
