A tow trucker driver from New York state has been charged with stealing a PS3, a PS3 controller and a PS2 game from a wrecked vehicle that he was towing. The vehicle was involved in an accident that killed an 11-month-old girl. The driver of the vehicle had lost control and rolled over on the I-78.
The police stated that Thomas J. Brunell III admited to entering the vehicle after he had towed the minivan from the scene and removed over $700 in video game equipment.
State police at the Perryville barracks towed the vehicle to headquarters and noticed that the video game equipment reported to belong to its owners was not inside.
Police then launched an investigation into the burglary of the minivan several days after the accident and arrested Brunell on burglary and theft charges Feb. 9. He was released pending a future court date.
Brunell has also been suspended from his job with Rossnagle's Service Center after a year of service.

If you knew where I worked, this would make sense, but I do speak in literal terms...
He's only suspended because right now the guy has just been accused of the crime. When he's found guilty (and I have no doubt he will), his suspension is going to become permanent.
One thing we were wondering about over at our blog was why the guy was still looking for his console and not the dead baby. :(

That's assuming a bit much.
You make it sound like the dad was only worried about his missing PS3 and not giving a damn about his daughter. The theft wasn't noticed until some time later, and by the police, not the driver. From the article, there's nothing to suggest he ever asked about it. Probably because he was grieving.
Maybe we should really be focusing more on the poor kid. I guess it's just depressing and pointing fingers helps make sense of it all.
Sorry. :( More death and mayhem than I can handle in a week as a result of my personal life. This thing about the PS3 theft just got to me.
Sorry. my uncle died on MOnday. The triviality with which some people see the death of other people sometimes irks me, even if I have trouble crying for the dead myself.
He would've been better of stealing a Wii or 360 ! At least he could play some good games !
