And Donkey Kong as Chewbacca photo

With Super Mario Galaxy destined to hit the Nintendo Wii at some point in the near future, the people over at Asame 5 have created this great Star Wars/Mario mashup in celebration of the Mario Galaxy future release.

Though each character isn't exactly screaming out who their supposed to represent from the Star Wars galaxy, I was able to figure this much out: Kirby is the Death Star, the Virtual Boys are Tie Fighters, the Super Famicom is the Millennium Falcon, Mario is Luke Skywalker, Princess Toadstood is Princess Leia, Luigi is Darth Vader, Donkey Kong is Chewbacca, Samus is C3PO, Rob is R2D2, and then I'm totally clueless on the rest.

Link could be Han Solo, but he has a light saber, so maybe he's suppose to be Obi Wan and Kid Icarus could be Boba Fett, but then who's the guy with the balloons and what's with the puzzle pieces with the heads? Damn weird Japanese art.

Figure out the rest yourselfs, I'm going to play more FFXII. If you liked this artwork, check out the best or worst of Asame.

Well, Han Solo does look like he's holding a lightsaber in the original poster.

So much, that my little brother was convinced that one of the films would reveal him to be a Jedi. (This was during the release of the Special Editions)

Link is Han Solo.

Leia-toadstool, Han Solo-Link are holding blaster rifles not light sabers.

Yeah, deiga's right. In the original poster Han Solo is holding a lightsaber (and Luke is holding a blaster - go figure). The puzzle piece faces are Obi Wan and Grand Moff Tarkin. Kid Icarus and the floating balloon dude are just fillers for X-Wings in the original poster.
Damn, I'm not a Star Wars nerd... I swear.

Oh yeah, my bad. Han is actually holding a blaster (now that I looked at a larger version of the poster). I'll shut up now before this turns into a star wars forum.

He's holding a blaster, but it's pretty hard to tell. Especially cwhen he's not even looking at where he's shooting at.

Am I the only one who notices Princess Peach has a very manly face?

The guy with balloons is from a NES game called Balloon Fighter, and the "puzzle pieces" are the japanese mascots for the original famicom, and the faces look like obi-wan and someone else.

I believe the juxtaposition of the mario-seque castle scene and the two balloons is supposed to evoke the image of Luke's homestead on Tatooine. Or maybe I a crazy.

Dude, the poster is obviously from the original "Star Wars" but the title is a parody of "The Empire Strikes Back". WTF!?!? I'm rating this 0/10 and instructing the members of my Star Wars Galaxies guild to boycott this site forever.

Actually, that isn't a Super Famicom. It's a Famicom with a Famicom disk system attached.

And yes, Peach looks like a man.
