It was actually delayed twice. Once to January 2012 and then to July 2012, but whatever.
I can see why Platinum is playing this game, Vanquish suffered from poor sales and was released during a bad time if I recall. They don't want to repeat that. July looks pretty barren to me though, seems like a good time to release. This summer in general does. It's better than getting caught up in the Q4 2012 sandtrap or the Q1 2013 zone.

I hope this isn’t part of the cutbacks Sega was talking about a while ago, their relationship with Platinum is pretty much the best thing they have going for them these days.
if the achievements list is true, and this game has a kraken AND cthulhu in it, its a must buy!

I think it's Sega hoping for it to get more exposure first. Not everyone knows about the demo that's going to be on XBL or PSN.
Just make/load up your Japanese XBL account and download the demo if the demo doesn't show up on the US/UK Marketplace.

The only reason I don't have it preordered is because I've bern waiting to see how Bayonetta is handled and whether or not I need to preorder at a specific place.
Funny, I noticed this today, but assumed it was old news. Considering all the nice looking games getting dropped lately, and SEGA's current economic state, I reeeeeally wish this game the best. Especially since it's one of the few games I want to play this year that hasn't been cancelled or pushed back.

I've been saying that the recent Xenoblade localization situation (among others) had very little to do with NOA. The localization market is just not doing well, especially in America, mainly due to the rising Yen.

Well, at first I assumed Sega was just waiting to see how the game did in Asian before releasing it in the west, but if the game is done already, there's really no reason to not release it unless there're issues with the Bayonetta preorder DLC? Looks like business is once again getting in the way of potentially great games.
Probably because they just now realized that the game-play is the same from Mad World ( for good or bad )
Platinum is a good studio and they are capable of making great products. However, some of their games have great concepts, and then fail to deliver on game-play that make the player want to play through the game more than twice such as; Mad World and Vanquish.
If anything this delay is a good sign as they are sitting down and taking the time to make sure that the final product is worth the retail price (I'm guessing it will be $50)
I cannot wait to play this game when it gets over here!

oh for the love of god retrofaction.....THE GAME IS FINISHED ALREADY, and completely localized, and it doesnt play a shit like mad world. can you just get in youtube and search for their videos? so fucking difficult is to inform yourself? here is their channel, updated every week with new videos, including one with 12 motherfucking minutes of gameplay and the japanese launch trailer.

If this gets the 6-month Bayonetta style delay then everyone should just import it. Platinum Games always includes all languages in the Japanese release.
