AMY releases January 10/January 11, priced weirdly photo

The intriguing horror game AMY is finally making its appearance on January 10, where it'll hit the PlayStation Network for $12.99. It'll come to Xbox Live Arcade the following day, for the strangely reduced price of 800 Microsoft Points (that's ten bucks).

In Europe, both the PSN and XBLA versions will land on January 10.

So far, nobody's found out why the PSN version costs more. It's all very strange, but there you have it.

A PC version is coming, but it'll apparently be a few months before we see it, which sucks. In any case, we'll have a review some time next week. I'm crossing my fingers that it's the first awesome game of the year.

It looks great, I just wish that Amy didn't have any powers.

Microsoft pays the monies to get the sales. Sony does it like once every blue moon (remember the free Stacking on PSN)?

Amnesia and Dead Space could use some company for current competent survival horror games.

This looked pretty cool. Is it 2-player co-op, though? I'd worry that if one character was AI you'd run into problems- there's a reason "escort missions" are dreaded by gamers lol. A whole game based around escorting is going to be tough work to get right.

Wow. I wasn't expecting this so soon. With Silent Hill Collection delayed until March, this should fill in the horror gap.

"the strangely reduced price of 800 Microsoft Points (that's ten bucks)"

Well theres not many alternatives with the way Microsoft allows pricing, is there? Its either reduce it to 800 or increase it to 1200 ($15) if your going to try to keep it in league with the PSN price. Either way your going to lose: PSN people are going to bitch because they have to pay more, or 360 people would bitch because they'd have to pay more.

The odder thing would be that they should have priced the PSN version at $10, not the other way around.

Could it possibly be because it's a shitty port and they know it? (Note, I have a 360, so I'm not a Sony Fanboy)

I wonder if there will be a price drop for PS Plus people

I'm guessing it's $13 on PSN so that they can give PS+ members a "Deal" for $10

Doesn't bother me much as I am a PS+ member, but if they're starting to do that to more games, a lot of people will be pissed.

Magnalon: Sony always has fantastic sales. I would argue that they consistently topple Microsoft's offers, and that is undeniable especially wirh Plus.

Hydrophobia and tomb raider underworld were free to plus owners, also there have been a lot of discounts on games and dlc Daytona USA, the infamous dlc we got resident evil 4 for 10 bucks instead of 20 and wipeout hd and fury were free for awhile, and I got both penny arcade games for three bucks total.

A lot of stuff has gone on sale the past four months.

XBL version it is then. Unless, there is a nice PSN+ discount. Perhaps the free game of the month. Doubt it.

First what rockefella said, second, I'm looking forward to demoing this. Wonder what the difference between the versions is, if there is one. Will grab 360 version, unless ps gets some cool extra content or Xbox has a shitty ver.

@PS3 doing sales
Sony finally had an excuse to do it in the past 6 months because of PS+ - Microsoft has been doing it since Xbox Live came out in 2002.

@ magnalon
those sales were made by the madatory 50 bucks a year you had to cough up to exists on their network. The original online pass.

That's why it's amazing to me people complain about online passes whilst on xbox live. For 5 years you reliably demonstrated your that easy to part with your money, why did they think corperations weren't gonna take advantage of that?

Bit he'll after 5 years of this xbox silver paper weight I might as well get gold and round it out, and try out some of the stuff I missed over the years . I think the new console cycle will start this E3 and online passes are clearly here to stay so I can get it guilt free while still saying I fought the good fight.

the game was built for ps3 from the ground up. it was originally a psn exclusive. the ps version is going to be the best and the highest quality. not all compressed like the 360 version with limits on xbox live caps

Cool, I was actually expecting 1200 Points, but I like how they've managed to get this price. I'll still demo it, but I'm glad they're not making it a riskier proposition. It needs the interest.

I want this to be great, but such a short turnaround from announcement to release has me a bit worried. That's not a lot of time spent on polish.

Err to buy stuff on XBL you need a GOLD membership, right? If you have PlayStation you can download anything you want...but if you have the equivalent of XBL Gold on PS3 that is PLUS membership which gives you a discount on stuff. (This ringing some bells?)

Cogito ergo sum...it will probably cost you $10 on PlayStaion w/ Plus as well. Tah-fing-dahh!!!

@MonkeyKing1969:
no, you don't need Gold to buy things on XBL. you need Gold to play online and to take advantage of certain services (like Netflix and some sales). XBLA, XBLIG, and DLC are available to anyone with an internet connection and some money.

that aside, i think i'd rather have it on PC if there's a DRM-free version. if not, well, XBLA will do, i suppose. (pending reviews and the demo, of course.)
