American McGee's Alice trailer was a cheeky fake photo

How's this for a kick in the nuts? That really good looking trailer for Return of Alice that we ran earlier in the week is apparently a fan-made fake and not an official video. Despite looking very professional and more than a little brilliant, it has no connection to American McGee's Alice on a substantial level.

"Yesterday, a few sites picked up a video of Alice made by one of our fans and confused it as an official trailer of Alice 2," states McGee on his official blog. "I wanted to clear up any confusion -- as I mentioned in my post it was unofficial, and does not represent any of the final art direction or story elements in Alice 2. We look forward to sharing information on the game in the future."

Well, that sucks. I guess McGee and pals will now have a tough act to follow with the official trailer, whenever it appears. If it's not better than the one we saw, they'll have some explaining to do.

Well, I remember looking at American McGee's bad day out, or something like that, and, while it had wonderful artistic direction, (I love cell-shading!!) it...well, it sucked. Hopefully Alice won't do the same thing.

That trailer was excellent. Absolutely excellent. American, I'm sure you keep up to date with posts regarding your work and I know people have already said it but, HIRE THE PEOPLE THAT MADE THAT TRAILER!!!

Seriously they nailed a very creepy and disturbing feeling with that very short trailer. Plus the art was so perfectly fitting. These people/person needs to be on your team. I recommend getting in contact asap.

Pheh... maybe in it's direction, but the animation work was pretty damn low for a professional trailer. Should have known their was something fishy about that trailer; even if Mcgee's people don't do stop motion they could have atleast hired a better animator. Not to mention the CG work on the cat...

again the direction itself was good... its was creepy, well set up, and very "alice"... but the animation itself, not so much

What strange world do we live in that Fan trailers/ mods/ art etc. come out quicker than official stuff?

I swear, If I was tasked with creating something life Half-life episode 3, I would have completed it by myself by now.

So where is the real Alice 2 trailer?

I missed the previous post and don't want to go look at the fake trailer now (maybe later), but the thing I'm getting out of all this is...

...he says they're actually working on an Alice 2? Straight from American McGee's own mouth? He looks forward to sharing information about it with us? For reals? Holy shit. Do want.

I'm still waiting on American McGee's Oz. Whatever happened to that? I'd honestly rather have that than a second Alice game, but barring that, a second Alice game is perfectly acceptable.
