First off, Amazon Germany had a 250GB Xbox 360 listed. It's not there anymore, but the folks at Edge and Kotaku saw it while it was still up. The bundle contained two wireless controllers and Forza Motorsport 3, all for about $400. Not bad. This could have been an error, but Edge reminds that Amazon Germany listed the PS3 Slim as early as July, and that turned out to be a real thing. We'll ask around to see if this bundle is a real thing.
As for things you can actually get now, Amazon has the three SKUs of the Xbox 360 available with their new price drop. For those that missed the memo, that's $299 for the Elite and $249 for the Pro. As a promotion, they are offering a $50 credit toward a 12+1 Xbox Live subscription card if you buy an Elite before September 1st. For those buying the Pro or the $199 Arcade unit, you'll get one of a selection of free games for your new console. Titles like Halo 3, Fable 2, Lost Odyssey and Halo Wars are offered with this deal.
Way to go, Amazon. If you were looking to get a new (or another) Xbox 360, it looks like Amazon is the way to go right now.
[Update: Joystiq points to the 250GB also being spotted in South Africa. Same package and contents. Something's up.]

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
It also should be noted that Microsoft could give a shit less about my previous statement. Which, as most all of us have witnessed, is par for the course as far as MS is concerned.
60$ for a 160GB WD drive

12$ for a 360 HDD empty shell

And a few minutes of your time.
Of course you can spend way less if you buy an used HDD (possibly a 120GB one, since 40GB go wasted anyway if you use a 160GB one).
Also, you can get official Xbox 360 HDDs for cheap if you have even the slightest idea on how to use eBay. I got a 120 for $30, used.
I've bought those recently for different rooms and different houses.....as you can just move your hard drive around to different machines.....
125-150$ would be great
Thank you so much for letting me know about this. Looks like a pretty easy hack to do. I might finally be able to upgrade my 360 HDD now.
