One of the few great things about those Microsoft Points cards and, as evidenced by this new Amazon sale, the cards for Xbox LIVE Gold membership is that they are often sold at a discount. Right now, you can get the 12-month XBL subscription card for $34.99 which is a solid 30% off the normal asking price.

While it's not quite down to "just pennies a month," I'll gladly pay a little under $3 per month to access the early timely demos, online multiplayer, and integrated Netflix while continuing to completely ignore the apps for Twitter and Facebook.

Also, if you are terminally ill and only have a few months left on this world, Amazon has the 3-month card for $15.96. Because we all know you want to spend your last days getting an earful from a rowdy bunch of immature assclowns over the Internet.

THIS is why microsoft and nintendo are smart.......who cares about actual dollar value price listings when I can get points card and annual memberships on sale every year because stores are able to markdown prices on items without actual real dollar values (like PSN cards)......Sony should learn something from this.

Um... might want to mention that this is Amazon.com, which sells cards that are only good for US XBL accounts.

Although I suppose them only shipping to the US does that for you.

Non-US customers can generally get them from big box stores and other tech places. I picked up a twelve month card from GameFX for something like $25 and it's still working fine. Alternatively, check out one of the blogs where content writers and gaming bloggers have coupon-based Live cards. Sometimes they have codes for Amazon and other places, so you can get them a little cheaper.
