Amazon lists 160GB PS3 for $350, Sony Slim deal for $199 photo

If you didn't blindly jump on a PS3 purchase when the new Slim console was dropped, there are a few pretty good deals to be had.

Why settle for the Slim's 120GB when $50 can get you 40 more GB of storage, a voucher for PAIN on PSN, and the excellent Naughty Dog game Uncharted? Amazon has a sale on the 160GB Uncharted PS3 bundle right now, so you had better jump on that. Gamespot says that this will run until supplies of the discontinued system run out.

If you really had your heart set on the PS3 Slim, this Sony deal might interest you. Nab a Sony Visa card and your first purchase of $299 or more will get you $100 credited to your account. That's $199 for a PS3 Slim 120GB.

In related news, we noticed that DualShock 3 are on sale for $42.99 at Amazon.

$50 more!? I think you mean $150 more than the $199 slim. Which is almost like buying 2 slims. Almost.

Shit, I are retarded. The $199 slim is with a $100 credit. I'm sorry for ever questioning you Dale!

Did anyone notice the fact, that you have to purchase a visa credit card for the 199$ Deal?
Guess not...

Madcow: I believe Dale said to "Nab a Sony Visa Card" to get the $199 deal.

Did you even read it?

Awesome! So you can get the excellent Uncharted game that freezes with the 3.0 firmware!

Alternatively, you could get instantly approved for the card, then buy the Drake's deal on Sony Style for $299. Or if you wait, and Amazon still has it when your card arrives, you could get it for $249! Oh, the possibilities!

I absolutely hate it when a deal or headline says something like "$199" but it's really $299 unless I want to fall into the trap of opening up another credit card.

Sorry, I'm not going to open another credit card thereby lowering my credit rating for $100. Traps like this is why so much of America is in debt.

It looks like you need to make a $299 purchase at the Sony Store (onry) to be eligible for the $100 credit, it's there in the fine print as they say.

Sadly, that $100 credit doesn't do you much good since they already have your money and it's not really given back to you. In the end its still $300 because its now tied to them

@matrixdude171

Well actually, if you charged the PS3 slim @ 299.00, and then waited the first cycle to pay, then paid $199.00 towards the balance, the credit for 100.00 from Sony would then pay the remaining balance. This would allow for only 199.00 out of pocket.

The $199 slims is a BAD DEAL! Don't get do that guys! That's a really bad credit card with bad APR! And if you just sign up for the card and then cancel it, that will mess up your credit! It wont be worth the $100! Seriously guys, don't do it! You're better off either paying the extra $100 or just looking for other deals instead! Don't screw up your credit over this!

@ stafax

Just calm down. If the grownups want to get the credit card and then go for the Slim 'deal', that's their business. Not everyone is effected the same way by cards with high APRs. I'm sure most normal adults will look into such issues before committing, and if they don't... shame on them.

Relax man.

Not worth going into debt with a credit card.....one goal in my life is to never own one (credit card not PS3)

I was a loan offier two years ago helping people secure home loans. If you pay your credit card bills on time your credit goes up. If you do not have any credit cards you have basically no credit history except for any possible student or car loans. Using credit cards and using them improves your credit rating.

I've used this promo the first time they ran it back in 2007. It's kinda a bad deal. Cc bits aside, chase did everything in their power to deny me that $100 rebate. Shit like delaying approval of the card, delaying delivery, etc all in an effort to tell me I wasn't elligibke for this $100 discount like three months after I had the card. Buyer beware.

Awesome deal if you don't mind waiting for the $100. I have one credit card, and I FUCKING HATE IT. I want to pay it off so bad, but I keep buying games and stuff with my cash.

A person being 18 or older is not the same as a person being mature and responsible. Plenty of people sign up for credit cards and have no idea what they are getting themselves into. Why do you think the United States has a debt problem, especially with young adults? Because they don't know what they're getting themselves into. And I'm pretty sure lots of people will look at this and say "wow, all I have to do is sign up and I get $100 off? that's an amazing deal!" and they wont have any clue that getting the card will effect them in other ways.

Holy crap. Is it really that hard for people to have a credit card and just pay it off every month?

@Noah
If you can live without a CC, you shouldn't have any problem living with one. Just spend money like you do now (more in than out) and you'll be building your credit for when you need a real loan (house/car). Living CC free now may seem like a smart decision, but you'll regret it later. Overall a much better decision to just learn simple restraint.

For those of you so vehemently against credit, what the heck are you going to do when you move out of your parents basement? How do you expect to be able to purchase a home, a car - anything with any substantial value? In cash?

I just went to "apply for card" but it says "get $50 credit"... does that mean, the $100 is gone now?
