Also on XBLA this Wednesday: Commanders: Attack of the Genos photo

It turns out Discs of Tron will not be alone when it hits Xbox Live Arcade this week after all -- Commanders: Attack of the Genos (800 Microsoft Points) has been confirmed for release on Wednesday as well.

Commanders will offer most of what you'd expect from a turn-based strategy game: a variety of units, 15 missions, online and offline 4-player multiplayer, and a 1930's art deco style.

The aim of the actual gameplay itself is accessibility, so if you're into deep strategy games that feature complex upgrade paths and require you to research the instruction manual before attempting to play the tutorial, Commanders might not necessarily be for you.

Do either of these games look good, Dtoiders? I think you all know how I feel about Discs of Tron already, but I'm going to hold judgment on Commanders until I can play it.

That thing with four legs in the first screen looks like a Tachikoma from Ghost in the Shell.

And yes, Geno is win.

I normally would, but Culdcept Saga has me totally wrapped around it's twisted, craven little finger, and I don't think my head can grok more than one strategy game at a time without imploding.

I choose you, Bone Golem!

Looks really beautiful, and I love the retro art style, but sense we've heard nothing about this title, that usually means one thing.

It probably sucks. Eh.. I'll demo it though.

It's a good game, I was addicted to it and hoping it'd come onto XBLA soon. It plays like Advance Wars, only with slightly less options. Online play is where it's at though.

I think it's out (or will be out soon) on PC, so that might be how Razlo played it.

Well if nothing else Commanders will give a little bit more variety to the somewhat stagnant XBLA.Thats always a good thing.Hopefully Microsoft continues to steer away from abominations like shrek and spongebob, who had absolutly no place on XBLA in the first fucking place. Not too thrilled about the crusty DOT,but what can you do?Other than not buy it.

I'm a sucker for strategy games. And I'm getting the urge to get my general's hat and corn cob pipe out of the closet.
