Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

Destructoid might have been the only robot idol in Vegas for CES, but we weren't alone when it came to style. At the AVN show in Vegas we ran into these gamers and other sex gods as you can see in the video above (Dtoid cameo at 19 seconds). So who the heck is Gamecock? No, it's not the new Dtoid game company, it's a new independent game publisher that's sick of boring, recycled game ideas that don't take risks and plan ahead for a sequel they don't deserve.

Mike Wilson and Harry Miller established Gamecock to find unique and interesting artistic games that deserve to be played, and Destructoid must salute them for their phallic faith that gamers will buy their nontraditional games. They're not wasting any time though, they already have five new games to promise us on PC, next generation consoles, and even handhelds.

There's Insecticide, a detective shooting game that reminds me of Psychonauts visually, and Mushroom Men, a diseased game that features fungi and trash tactics in environments we're not used to playing. Then there's Hail to the Chimp -- basically a game that we've been joking about on the Dtoid ventrilo server for months -- a party game that lets you pick an animal and fight to the death against another skilled species.

And the other two games are RPGs in full 3D graphics. Fury is an MMORPG that focuses on the multiplayer aspect of gameplay, and Hero is an RPG that focuses on making dungeons more realistic and terrifying than any other typical treasure chest filled fantasy you've ever known.

Hit the jump to check out each game's official details, and you can see the pictures and videos on Gamecock's Web site.

Hero: (by Firefly Studios)

Videogames through the ages would lead you to believe that dungeons are vast underground treasure vaults staffed with monsters obligingly waiting to be slaughtered. In truth however they are impoverished, underground cities teaming with life.

Hero is the first game to take you into a real dungeon, one where a shadowy evil has come to feed on despair. This a dungeon at war - not a place with bags of gold just lying around!

This action RPG uses Firefly's dazzling new HD engine, allowing the player to storm heroically through underground halls while taking in the detail and complexity of a world previously unseen.

Master melee, ranged and magic skills and 'Close combat' a totally new, brutal mode of fighting as you battle your way through vast crowds of monsters. Fight alone or have a friend drop in to survive - and maybe even save - the darkest society imaginable!

Insecticide: (by Crackpot Entertainment

Insecticide is a hard-boiled, fast-shooting detective game set in a festering future city where bugs have evolved as the planet’s dominant race.  A murder at the powerful Nectarola soft drink company leads police from the Insecticide Squad on a bug hunt through the city’s seedy underbelly, and into a mystery of epic proportions.  Join Detective Chrys Liszt and partner Roachy Caruthers on the case as they become entangled in a web of crime in this 3rd-person shooter/detective game.  It’s an action-adventure in the truest sense of the word, immersing players in cinematic combat levels, as well as a story-based detective investigation.  Use Chrys’ unique insect abilities, a range of creative bug weaponry, and old-fashioned street smarts to solve the case and uncover a shocking secret, ultimately bringing the mighty boot of justice down hard on the city's infestation of crime.

Mushroom Men: (by Red Fly Studios)

After the comet had passed, all the planet's researchers concluded its strange green dust had no effect on the world. None noticed that tiny plants and fungi were acting strangely. Mushrooms, cacti, kudzu and other formerly-normal plants had awoken to full consciousness. Tribes quickly formed among the various mushroom species: the primitive Boletes, the aggressive Amanitas, and the inventive Morels. With nations formed, war inevitably followed.

"Mushroom Men - The Spore Wars" shows gamers the mundane world from the surreal perspective of a three-inch-high Mushroom Man. Unnoticed by humans, a war rages between the spore factions. As a brave Bolete Mushroom Man, players are given the opportunity to transform common household trinkets and trash into weapons and tools, and wreak havoc on a miniature scale. As civil war rages amongst the fungi, fierce battles span the diminutive landscapes. Prepare yourself for the Spore War...

Hail to the Chimp: (by Wideload)

Since the dawn of time, Man has wondered who would win if a polar bear and jellyfish teamed up to fight an armadillo and yak. Do you have what it takes (approximately $50) to learn the shocking truth?

When the King of the Animals is forced to resign in disgrace, a motley group of candidates turns out for a bare-knuckle campaign to win the Crown. From Ptolemy, the mighty hippo, to Crackers, the devious monkey, each of the ten candidates has distinct strengths and strategies, but the same hunger for political power.

Hail to the Chimp is a party game that delivers exciting gameplay, lush interactive environments, and a comic look at politics. Players use the game’s unique team-up mechanic, mixing cooperation with competition, to claw their way to victory.

Whether played by four friends on one TV, online against distant challengers or single-player against advanced AI, Hail to the Chimp offers endlessly replayable party fun for gamers of all stripes.

Taking the brightest elements emblazoned in the hearts of MMO fans and combining them with traditional RPG gameplay, Fury has culminated in the ultimate competitive online RPG. Advanced combat, in-depth character advancement and teamwork mixed with fast paced and diverse game types make up the core of Fury's gameplay. The dynamic cycle lets you fight, earn rewards and customize your avatar with a richness and depth never before seen or attempted.

Fury: (by Auran)

The evolution of Fury's combat system is a union of hardcore RPG factors with elemental changes, providing action packed gaming at a feverish pace. Bring these outstanding battle scenarios together with unparalleled matchmaking ensures players will always experience a fun and well matched fight. Plus, character development has been brought to all new levels letting your unique personality and style shine through at every level. Unleash the fury.

This news frankly has me very excited.

Not only are these two industry vets with an amazing track record, but they are bringing something back to the industry that is severely lacking.

Originality. And at the same time, they are letting the developers retain the power.

Another thing that excited me about this is the fact that all 5 games look fantastic. Mushroom Men is like one of my crazy ideas come to reality. And Wideload, who happens to be one of my favorite development studios, finally announced their new game today because of this.

Sweet. Oh, and what a badass name.

I hope they make it big. One day Gamecock will publish Madden, and squish EA. *squish*

Mushroom Men sounds really bad ass. They should definately add in the peaceful, hippy Psilocybe tribe.

If this were digg.com, I'd digg this article, and the comment with the gang sign photo in it. Since it's not, you'll have to manage with an imaginary cookie with whipped cream.
