The more details that arise about Eden's upcoming Alone in the Dark sequel, the more amazing it begins to sound. This latest trailer shows off some of the fire-based gameplay that has been previously discussed. The graphics aren't as mindblowing as some other games, but it looks pretty damn swanky and there's still time to make the game look even better.
Alone in the Dark is a game that needs some attention, because it has potential to truly revitalize the series and indeed, horror games in general. It's been too long since the last good scare in videogames, and hopelly Eden can pull it off.

Meet the rest of the team
Everything looks good except the first person view. Do developers realize that people actually don't hold guns way out off the to side like gang bangers when they shoot?
Gun should be positioned in the front of the camera or don't bother with the FPS view at all.
...holy shit. I have never played an Alone In the Dark game and I now plan to. That was fucking fantastic. The level of interactivity looks insane. I also saw some puzzles in there that look to use that incredible interactivity. Do-fucking-want.
The graphics look pretty muddy and dull, but the environments look large and interesting. And as a Zelda and Half-Life fan, I love interactivity, so the gameplay looks right up my alley. Too bad I'm a pussbag when it comes to horror games. :\
Most interesting aspect of the entire trailer was the inventory system, where you look down inside of his jacket and choose what you want. That was pretty sweet. However, if the game doesn't incorporate any Lovecraftian mythos as the first one did then I'm certain I will hate it as much as I hated 2, 3, and 4.
The original on the pc.... crazy rough polygons and zombies that took years to move... i admit i got no further than the first 5 minutes and hitting the first zombie... it was too much to bear at my tender age....
... and i have been unintrested, avoiding screenshots and vids...
I was fairly disinterested in this, simply because I never played the others. I feel bad for ignoring this. The level of interactivity looks like it will make everything that bit more fun and more importantly, will allow you to have alot more control over how you solve problems. Even that inventory interphase looks interesting, it's not often we get to say that. Cheers for pointing it out.
I'm more jazzed for this game then I was before the trailer so I guess they did their job. The game looks very stiff in motion but it also looks to be doing some cool things. Using a gun to shoot a sword off the wall has to be the most absurdly awesome thing ever. "This gun ain't quite cutting it, let me replace it with a sword I shot off the wall!"
I hope there's a part where you use a grenade to knock a lead pipe off the top of a bookshelf.
Lovin' the music too. It sounds like they're chanting "Get me some necro booty."
The first Alone in the Dark was not on Dreamcast, to the person who said that above. The original Alone in the Dark, as mentioned by several posters above, was on PC. And it had graphics that... well, I can't even describe them, really. 3D, but, ah... Picture Mario 64 with zombies and evil dogs! :D
So instead of a magical bag that contains a small armory, it's a magic jacket that can carry a small armory? Makes a little more sense, although my jacket, at best, can hold six ammo clips and only three grenades. And if I'm lucky I can squeeze in one of those med packs I keep finding on the ground.
Seems too 'light' to be scarey to me. I prefer the creepy darkness of Silent Hill. Although the combat in this trailer does look a lot better that Silent Hills.
Its kind of intersting to me how this game doesn't seem to just be flat out horror. It seems to being going for a more epic sense of horror than normal games seem to, idk I just didn't get a creepy vibe watching it like I hoped to, but all of that aside this game looks very promising.
Looks kinda boring, but the first one was kinda boring too. However, certain parts of this look really cool, like shooting a sword off the wall so you can pick it up, and blowing up a car from afar.
Looks good, especially interaction with the environment and objects within it. Definitely went up a few notches based on the trailer, but would need to see a reason for shooting down a sword other than it's just something you could do.
I think it looks great.
What I really would like to know is if the music used for the trailers is from the actual game soundtrack, because it's incredible.
I bet this is one of the first good things to come out of Uwe Boll's horrible body of work.
What do I mean, you say?
Well, the way I see it, Uwe made that GAWD AWFUL Alone in the Dark movie and the people making the game (that was supposed to roughly coincide with the release and plot of the movie) saw the film, and it lit a fire under their asses to make something SO COOL that it would erase any linkage between the series and the film.
Now, this goes out directly to the developers:
PLEASE let this game be good! It's definitely got the atmosphere and the "inventive" gameplay down. Now all it has to do is NOT SUCK and it gets an insta-buy from me.
That's right Alone in the Dark devs. If you can pull a half decent game out of your asses I GUARANTEE you my money. Hell, I'll even act like a walking advertisement to my friends if you pull this off right.
You've got a big thing on your hands here. PLEASE DON'T SCREW IT UP!!
That did look pretty fucking awesome. The picking up junk animation looked kinda stiff, like the character has a bad back, but besides that everything else looked 100$ perfect and full of awesome to my eyes, especially the fire and breaking down shit gameplay. :O Do want.

boy was i not ready for this.......
this may come under "MUST HAVE"!

This one seems to be more like shooter survival horror, but pretty. Guest starring the black head crabs from Half-life 2
Maybe too much fire as well? Man, I'm negative nancy.
And that awesome.
The more I read about this game the more impressed I am. I actually don't even remember the original coming out.
What I really would like to know is if the music used for the trailers is from the actual game soundtrack, because it's incredible.
I approve of this product :D

Maybe this will do the trick.
