Edward Carnby may be Alone in the Dark, but he's certainly not alone in the box if the above image is anything to go by. Eden's fire-fueled survival horror sequel is looking amazing and it seems to have carried over into the special edition of the game -- just look at all that stuff.
Hardcore Alone in the Dark fans, will have everything they could ever want with this set -- an Edward figure, a sixty page art book, an audio CD and a DVD all in a kickass box. I also heard there's a videogame in there somewhere.
While special editions are often, quite rightly, regarded with cynicism, I'd be lying if I said the occasional one didn't rouse my interest, and this is definitely the case here. I just hope the game matches the quality of the package it comes in, though what I've seen thus far does little to damage such high hopes. Really looking forward to this.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Most of the front page is full of you're post.
Atari aren't exactly in great shape financially, their future hinges on the success of Alone in the Dark, I would hate to see them stick a ridiculously high price tag on this in the hope that they could use the money to get the company back on stable ground.

I actually did a blog post on limited edition game deals, but it seems few read it. Feel free to check it out if you like what you see.
Sure the case wasn't some fancy metal dealie, but honestly although I enjoy extras they've become far too space taking and once you've partaken in a few pack in figures and meagerly sized artbooks, I think it loses it's appeal. Who am I to complain though really? I honestly can't think of something that would be more of interest as a pack and it's completely optional. Maybe if they bundled it with some of that double sided tape......
I remember playing the original one way way back in the day, never played any of the ones in between though.
Regardless, looks like I've got another special edition to buy...
thats the last of atari's money going into this set.
Im getting it FO SHO
The only thing I've found is usually the more "special" content you get the more cash you have to throw down. They should make special editions for people who pre-order or something to make it more rare and not kill peoples wallet for a damn booklet and figure.
I don't know how many special editions there are of Devil May Cry sitting on the shelf but I know damn well I'm dishing out $79.99 for it.
it's on the pc, don't worry! and i'll join you in your purchase of the pc version. do want that high-res.
The soundtrack is tempting though.
