Alone in the Dark PS3 will be improved: Turd polishing machine found at Atari photo
     Alone in the Dark

We at Destructoid did not like Alone in the Dark. In fact, our review of it was quite harsh (although to its credit, it was no Eternity's Child). If you were holding out for the PlayStation 3 version, however, don't kill yourself just yet -- Atari has promised that Alone in the Dark for the PS3 will be better. It promised!

There are no specifics as of yet, but if Conrad's review was anything to go by, Atari needs to make improvements to the following areas: The pacing, the pointless collection quests, the repeating pointless collection quests, crap camera control. useless firearms and a series of glitches. Just clear those up and everything will be fine.

I don't hold out much hope. When a game is being sold on the idea that "it's not as bad this time," it's rarely ever good. We'll see what Atari has to offer by way of improvements before we can judge for certain, but nobody hold their breath.

They could just drop the price to 19.99 and perhaps I'll give it a go.

I heard that they are making a whole new game and calling it Alone in the Dark.

I played through "AITD: The New Nightmare" on the Dreamcast right before this game came out to get myself all worked up. I really liked that game.
THIS GAME however is just terrible, . . not Vampire Rain terrible, but pretty bad.
The first thing that killed me was how much better the last game was, in every way. . . Man, I can't imagine what the fuck they are gonna do to improve it other then scrap the whole fcken thing. [p]
I had high hopes for this game, and NOW I'll just be happy if I can get through it and make it to the end and pray for NO MORE driving sequences.

They should include the option to play as the chef from Burger Time. All the zombies turn into fried eggs and the evil wall cracks (worst enemy ever perhaps?) transform into angry sausages! Oh the humanity!

Seriously though what are they going to fix? There was so much wrong with that game it would easily take another year in development to make it decent.

They could just drop the price to GIVING ME $199.99 and perhaps I'll give it a go again.

It was indeed no Eternity's Child, because it was 100 times worse. No don't disagree, you're wrong, it really was :P

So will dtoid have a seperate review of the PS3-version? I'd really like to have a decent version of this game... it has the potential to be totally epic, cant understand why they felt the need to turn it in such crap...

I have heard that the game has a lot of cool concepts, but all in separate directions like they tried to do everything and rush it to the market.

I'll probably buy it when it comes out. I'm also pretty wasteful with my money.

I'm finding the game to be alright, Im on the 5th chapter and the only stuff I really hate are the driving missions, and overall glitchiness.

Not going to lie, I rented it and liked a lot of it. There was also a lot of bullshit though. The driving can only be described as "wack" and there are loads of glitches. Fix glitches + fix or remove driving = good game. Oh yeah, and rewrite the script.

The game has an innovative way of telling a shitty story. Make it a good story, and you got yourself gold.

Meh, I liked it, I could forgive the flaws it had, the driving was my biggest problem with the game and that was only 2 sections and I never did bump into any of the major glitches either.

Course I just went out and bought the game, I didn't wait till some website told me it sucked and then sucked the virtual dick of the reviewer and tell him he was SOOOOOOOO right despite they never tried the game ever.

The inventory system was also quite innovative, oh and Jim, you where supposed to use fire to kill most enemies, that's why the gun was rather useless, you could make fire bullets and kill a few enemies like that though, you just needed to aim for the fissures in their bodies.

I have to wonder, just how many people who commented here have actually played the game or are they simply parroting back what the reviewers like the good little sheep they are.

I do get tired of the "I believe what Destructoid believes" attitude of this site sometimes. This game is enjoyable. Yeah it's got it's share of problems but it's also got alot of new ideas and is far above average. if you can pick it up second hand then it's worth the money.

I bought the game before any reviews we're available and was able to play through it without with an open mind. I have to agree with Kyousuke and say that most of the hate for this game is from people who've never played it.

If they can iron out some of the rough edges it should be an enjoyable game for ps3 owners looking to for some action and neat puzzle elements.

I can take a shit on a blu-ray disc and try to play it. It doesnt make it any cooler than taking a shit on a 360 disc.

I gotta agree with Nanbu on this one. Yes the controls were horrid, and yes having to shoot those tiny damn fissures were crappy, but damn. I personally think this game deserves more credit than it's getting. The physics and reality of the game are truly astounding. Maybe not implemented in the best way, but doesn't deserved to be called trash and never played. Great rental, but I wouldn't suggest buying it
