Aliens vs. Predator mostly coming February 2010 ... mostly photo

We've known for a while that Rebellion's Aliens vs. Predator wouldn't see the light of day until 2010, but we were still unsure of exactly when we could look forward to penetrating fleshy green heads with our snapping secondary jaws. Fortunately, Sega has updated its AvP page to reveal that February is now the magic month. Now all we need is a deck of cards.

As Destructoid's chief Xenomorph fan, this is easily among my most anticipated games of 2010, along with Aliens: Colonial Marines. The game looked amazing at E3, and it was all I could do to stop myself from punching out the developer playing it and grabbing the controller myself. I have high hopes indeed for this one.

On a related note, I am currently gathering questions for an interview with the guys behind this three-way acid-drenched slaughterfest. If there's anything you'd like to know, please leave a comment and I'll ask Rebellion ... unless your questions are rubbish.

[Thanks, Tachicore]

We are not pleased. Need Xenomorph action NOW!

Also, Jim. Why not do a "Why Xenomophs are blatantly better the Predators?"

Already kicking that idea around. :-)

@Jim
Looking forward to that.

Predators are blatantly better than Xenomorphs though...

Watch it get delayed to fall 2010 because of all the games pushed back to 1Q '10.

Actually this title can take all the time I have left on this planet to become the masterpiece it is blatantly destined to be. Can't wait.

Jim, you should ask the devs if the multiplayer portion of the title is going to include a mode similar to firefight or horde mode. It needs to. Without a mode like that the game would be absolutely incomplete. So since you write for Destructoid, you should try to make that happen if it isn't planned. Get what I'm saying?

Oh and don't forget about the Predalien, it's blatantly the best of both worlds.

@Wanderingpixel

Penis sizes in Alien?

Face huggers. Nuff said. (They go down to your stomach!)

@wanderingpixel.

AVP films don't exist in my world.

Which means film wise, they've only lost to Arnie and Danny Glover.
No one beats Arnie, and Danny Glover is fucking cool, so...

Alien3 exists though... sadly.

This question might already have been answered, but does the alien blood impact envoirnment or cause damage to players if they are splashed by it?

I wish Predator would go away. They're cool, but also a danger to the Alien franchise.

My questions:

Any Predaliens doing that new and frankly disturbing reproduction shown in AvP:R?

Any Dog (or Ox) styled aliens from Alien 3?

Will there be any Space Jockey easter eggs?

How varied are the Marines and Predators? As in Predator masks, Female marines, Elder Predators, etc.

Aliens versus Predator versus The Terminator, can you make it happen?

I'm a big collector of Aliens and Predator figures. Ask if there is going to be any new merch coming out to coincide with the game.

I only hope for a multiplayer mode similar to one of the original AvP games, where you facehugger some poor sap, bust out of their chest, and become the kick *ss alien you know you are destined to be! God I loved those multiplayer matches.

Hey Jim, I'd love to know more about the supposed balancing between the three races. From what I've heard, it seems like Xenomorphs will no longer have a major speed advantage over Colonial Marines. I was always a fan of the clear-cut strengths/weaknesses for each race, and hope they're doing something to keep the playstyles unique. If you could ask for their reasoning behind supposedly homogenizing the species (if even applicable), I'd appreciate it!

Do we get to be the alien queen???

The original AvP game on the PC kicked serious arse. Hope this can come close to it,

Will the Xenomophs have a similar aim feature for auto jumping like the Predator has? For example while crawling across a wall or ceiling, jumping from one wall to another.

Questions -

Are we going to see a return of the Survival Mode of the original AVP?

Will there be classes as in the earlier titles - If so will we see a stronger class focus (medics for humans etc)?

Will balance still be based around numbers and not individual characters? (That is to say in the second game a balanced game was something like 2 Humans/Aliens for every Predator)

Has inspiration been drawn from the core titles or will we see things like the Whips from AVP2:R?

And finally - is the Sniper Rifle still going to be a god among guns?

@Hitogoroshi - didyou get the semi-recent Aliens xeno by Neca? I think it's better than the McFarlane version.

What is it about AvP that lends itself so well to videogames?

If you could make one "non-canon" AvP game, where anything goes, what would you put in it?

I expect it to be delayed to avoid competition from all the games that were pushed to Q1 2010 this year.

Ask why them - 'Why have you designed the marines to look more like the meatbags from Starship Troopers?'

I have no idea why they've changed the classic helmet w/camera look, but I'm not feeling it at the mo.

Jim, don’t know if you’re still reading this, but please get the guy to talk alittle about how Preds can now “mimic a human voice to lure a marine from his squad and into a trap.” Imagine if the Preds could record and replay what the Marine players said to each other over XBL or something...I'm pretty pumped about it to say the least.

Other than that, maybe ask him about the Pred’s Focus Mode and how it works, ask if there’s going to be any Alien lifecycle (chestbuster to adult) gameplay, like we saw in AvP2, or ask him if he likes Rolos…that’s all I can think of for now.
