Rebellion has announced that Aliens vs. Predator is receiving a patch on Monday, receiving a number of stability and multiplayer glitches. Considering how many problems there are, I hope that this is one update of many more in future. In any case, here's the full list of fixes that will occur when the update goes live next week:
General
- Stability improvements to address rare and infrequent hangs
- Implemented a workaround for missing audio issues with certain hardware (SoundBlaster X-Fi, Realtek onboard, etc.)
- Fixed save games being lost or corrupted if connection to Steam is lost or if user switches to offline play
Multiplayer
- Fixed XP being incorrectly affected by offline play (though only in the local stats; this will be corrected next time you connect to multiplayer)
- Fixed other players sometimes appearing to have the wrong weapon or continuing to fire indefinitely after dying
- Fixed rare issue where players would be temporarily invisible
- Fixed some selection of servers and players in menus sometimes being incorrect
The patch doesn't mention fixing problems with lag, nor does it offer any solutions for connection drops and hosts quitting the game. The game certainly has more technical issues than this patch mentions, and I have to say I'm actually quite angry about that considering all the ruined potential this game has. Still, Rebellion and Sega seem unaffected by the negativity, with the publisher promising some new in-game feature announcements very soon.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Hopefully...
Anyway, I have the random pausing issue, so I look forward to the patch for that if nothing else.
Actually the invisibility one is a good fucking thing. So this patch is sorta a good thing for now, cause that glitch is a pain the fucking ass.
I like the one where they continue to fire after dying though, its so damn funny.
I want a dedicated svr patch though, GIVE IT TO ME.
Funny seeing how u ppl are bashing rebellion for not patching everything when. its only a week since this game released so take it easy, there will be more patches in the future for now be happy. Compared to this mw2 and socom were worse until they got dozens of patches. That javelin glitch in mw2 was the worst.
You done? Oh, I just love it when people cry about people crying. It's so overwhelmingly hypocritical and just plain fun to watch.
Anyway, if a game that somebody bought doesn't work, they have a right to want it fixed. I don't really see the problem there. I love the game.. but there's really no excuse for the piss poor multiplayer options, or lack there of. Boy, I really hope you don't mind that I feel that way.. that would sure ruin my day to find out that you do.

Whatever, it just seems that no matter what Rebellion do with regards to post release support, it's not going to be good enough. Of course they want it fixed, that's my point, they have started to patch the game and still people aren't hsppy. TBH I couldn't care less how you feel. The patches have started coming, give them a chance to work on the other stuff instead of demanding it yesterday.
I'm going to have to buy this game!!!
@DGX Goggles: the Xbox patch already came and if you are still having problems it's because you suck.
Just finished playing AvP2 straight 6 hours XD. That game is Awesome!
Last time I checked my skills had nothing to do with host migration. Apparently you aren't aware of what that is. I'm sorry for your inadequacy. Don't worry, I heard God loves even the "challenged" children.
