Rebellion's Aliens vs. Predator has been downloaded four million times, making it the most successful demo in Sega's library. Along with the honor of being Sega's fastest-selling game, AvP has been an unbelievable success, especially since many people figured it wouldn't sell well at all. Looks like sci-fi monsters from the eighties are still culturally relevant.
It's just a shame that AvP wasn't all it could have been. Still, the huge success of AvP should bode well for Gearbox's Aliens: Colonial Marines, which I am sure will be a far superior offering. I greet all AvP success with joy if it translates to Gearbox getting a big budget and plenty of marketing.

I loved the demo because they had got the matchmaking working eventually, just a shame they couldn't fix it for the fucking game! Who wants to play a 1 vs 2 vs 2 game on a 12 player map? Anyone, it's 1 marine, 2 predators, 2 aliens, running around a huge map waiting to be grabbed from behind.
I'm gonna trade it in for Bad Company 2 at the weekend i reckon.

apparently the demo wasn't ready to be played when it released... so i spit it out.

But that's the problem. They don't have to change. Why should they? If numbnuts all over the place are buying this steaming pile then they're making money, and that's all that matters to them.
However, it turns out it's the worst demo in the world. Why they picked the crappiest Multiplayer game, Deathmatch.. and my second to least favorite map, I'll never know. I played the game everyday, quite a bit, up until BC2 came out. Unfortunately that game is just way too good to put down.
I mean, what kind of achievement is it if your game gets DLed to death and only 5% of them get the game?
I know I DLed the demo and then had nothing more to do with it, no interest in playing the full game.
I still play though, good game. Playing through the Alien campaign on Nightmare now.

I played one game, only one, and it was just like any other death match out there. Nothing special at all.
And you might want to ask, "Hey, how can you judge a demo if you only played it once?" And I would respond that, I tried for 2 hours to play that stupid fucking demo and was only about to get into ONE match. Fuck this shit. Also, Rogue Warrior.
You can usually get into a game with little difficulty. It definitely needs work but I suggest if you were turned off by the demo (don't blame you there) you should give this a rental.
