Aliens leave NYC desolate in new Crysis 2 trailer

8:20 AM on 04.09.2010

New York City is a wonderful place, but the newest trailer for Crysis 2 illustrates the perils of flying into town in the midst of an alien invasion. The creatures annihilate an arriving military force; perhaps next time, they'll think twice about using helicopters as their mode of transportation. (Speaking of which, I get the feeling that Giant Bomb's Ryan Davis already likes this game.)

This two-minute trailer appears to take place well after the invasion has begun, since the area around the Flatiron Building is deserted save for a wall plastered with missing person photos. (Is anyone else getting an eerie 9/11 vibe from this?) Oh yeah, the Nanosuit-wearing Nomad is there, too, and it looks like it's up to him to defend the city. For more on Crysis 2, which is due out this holiday season on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, check out my preview.
