Versus just a straight up $60 on my PS3.
Unless you're getting a Wii U for all the Nintendo exclusives there is simply no reason to care. I think we're going to very quickly see the diminishing returns on power and graphics with this next generation of consoles.
Sure, they can be prettier, but I honestly don't notice enough of a difference to care. Which is weird to say considering that I'm going to be getting a gaming PC...
After the whole 38 Studios debacle and all the livelihoods and families at stake, I think it would be best for gaming tech to be more affordable than modern, that's for sure.
Not while that Wii slowly rots in the cupboard...
Why does it sound like they have no clue how to properly implement the controller? Even still, I'm looking forward to see what devs do with the Wii-U.
I really need to see the Wii U being played to figure out if its something I'm interested in. As for Aliens, I'll get it for the 360 and be happy with that.
Also, Brenda can fuck a little slice of off.
Will the game be truly "better" on the WiiU? If anyone knows it's Gearbox. Sounds like they are using it as the target hardware. It likely will be better on the platform. That being said, will it be roughly 6-8 times as good? No. No it will not. I guarantee it. And since there is nothing else announced for WiiU at this point that makes it remotely worthwhile to purchase, I'll stick with an "inferior" version, thanks.
Have they announced a new Zelda for this thing yet?
If it was the only game on the console, I'd still buy it.
He already said as much last E3, which then sent nubcock sterling into a happy dance. It probably wouldn't be surprising if you get some weird POV stuff for sentry gun segments, or remote controlling a drop ship or APC. Probably some interactive map functions keying off whatever structure your in and likely missing marine tracking through chip implants, and probably using it to see helmet cam footage of other marines or maybe even other players as well. Basically all the techy cool shit from the movies.
I honestly hope they do deliver stuff like I listed above because I, and I expect most of us, realize that most developers will at best throw maps on it for RPG, plays in sports games, or mini games for everything else since that's what they did on dream cast and the second DS screen. Hopefully this gen devs will up the creativity level a bit and stop half assing it.
Do you want another current gen console next?
(read like Lana from Archer): Nooope!
And I'm cool with that
Other than that, you're left with second screen and gyroscope gimmi- er, features. Do those really make it the "best"?
I liked the ideas Gearbox and Wayforward had for Infestation, which kept things truer to the movies than most games in the past have. Any use of technology that brings the games closer to the ideas of the world portrayed in the movies is something I can totally get behind.
The Wii suffered (though I have like 40 games on it and love it) because third parties couldn't port their games and engines quickly, Wii U needs to address that issue and it's plain sailing.
And silly people in this thread, you KNOW you have to buy a Nintendo console eventually. If Aliens is better on Wii U it's just one more reason to get one.
@Sexual
Wait for the new-gen consoles? First of all, the Wii U is a new-gen console, whether you want to admit it or not. Second, if the PS4 and new Xbox require an online connection or don't allow for used games to be played, then everyone BUT Nintendo can fuck right off. I'd rather actually, you know, OWN what I pay for, or at least feel like I do.
Between the Wii, which I hunted down mercilessly when it was released when I could -and still only can- really afford 1 console, just to have it sit for the better part of the entire time after collecting dust. And the whole 3DS thing, which got better but seems to be sliding backwards yet again (I still feel like we're seeing more DS games then 3DS games, worth buying).. I just can't trust rushing to a Nintendo system too soon any more, even if they were to release a brand new Zelda in that 2 year period I'd rather wait, cause its not like Nintendo's games ever disappear off shelves any way -theres really no reason to rush.
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMED!
Wii U being more powerful than the PS3 or 360 semi-confirmed. Glad to hear it. They needed that to get my purchase. I'm not gonna go backwards with the Wii U if I already have both of those systems. If a 360 with no hard drive is $200 right now (and might be cheaper by the years end), I'd strongly suggest a $250 price point for this thing. Just bite the bullet and do it, Nintendo. Don't make the same mistake you made with the 3DS and price that at least 20% more expensive than what it should have been.
Also, can we get a wireless Classic Controller Pro for this thing? If the Wii U Tablet is used effectively for a game, and the controller it self has clickable analog sticks (not nubs) plus real triggers, I'll use that instead. But I don't think every game will be that way. This game could actually be cool if only for the motion sensor that was in Aliens.
There is a good chance that this is the last gen of home consoles and I will be getting a WiiU If I want top end super high amazing graphics then stop waiting for ps4/Xbox720 get a PC cus the console war is going the way of the dodo!
God, people are ignorant. Hold the damn controller in your hands before you judge it.
So, the idea that a home console will be able to offer some of the benefits the DS enjoyed makes me pretty excited. Looks like this will offer a lot more as well.
The news on the power is good, as it will draw in more third party developers. I'd actually argue that the lack of HD output is what killed the Wii's longevity more than the lack of power, so even tho I would expect the next consoles from Microsoft and Sony to up the ante on power, I suspect there won't be nearly the disparity there was this previous generation of consoles.
