Aliens: Colonial Marines is still kicking, has a few details photo

This is a coincidence. Here I am, working on an Aliens feature for the site, and along comes some brief Aliens: Colonial Marines news. Despite a complete lack of talk on the subject lately, Sega has confirmed that the game is still alive and well, scheduled for a Q1 release. Hurrah!

In addition to this, we also know that the game will be split into six chapters, each one giving you control over a different member of your six-person Marine squad. Each mission contains flashbacks which gives a backstory to each Marine, lending some extra narrative weight to proceedings. The game will use "adaptive cover," and you'll be able to have entrances welded shut and furniture moved to block the Alien advance.

Also -- and don't cry -- QTE sequences seem to be on the cards.

There have been concerns that the project was scrapped, but Gearbox had certainly not been giving me that impression during my regular "give me information on this game and you'll get a blowjob" emails that I've been sending them. The game has been under development for quite a while, but Sega has been keeping an uncharacteristically tight lid on any information. Whether that is a good or a bad thing remains to be seen.

The game was included in Sega's updated 2009 release schedule, which includes titles like Bayonetta, MadWorld and House of the Dead: Overkill. It looks like a potentially hot year for the publisher, something which Sega hasn't had for a while. Hit the jump to see the full lineup.

Poor Sega...they finally get all their good games ready for an economic downturn...Also I really really hope the game has some kind of AVP like multiplayer (sans Predator of course).

Dying for Phantasy Star Portable. My best friend and I have restarted games for local multiplayer in PSO Ep1&2+ on the Gamecube in anticipation. The treats from platinum games (Madworld & Bayonetta) are also looking very tight. Cannot wait!

Bah...The few seconds of video footage on Jace Hall looked pretty lame.

It won't be as bad as the Starship Troopers PC game, but I don't think it's going to be good.

@JamnOnTheOne

You can't compare A:CM to Starship Troopers.

Strangelite just made a cheap PC (PC only because it's cheaper) game with a bad engine (SWARM).

Aliens is being made by a damn good developer, Gear box (Halo PC, BIA) and using a good easy engine (unreal).

Call me crazy, but I think Aliens is in good hands.

Aliens is an classic movie, and it needs a great game to go along with it. All we have is Alien vs Predator(Capcom arcade).

I hope to god this is amazing. I haven't lost hope and I doubt I will. I just hope it doesn't let me down and if it does, I hope it's not THAT bad.

looks like SEGA will be getting a lot of my money this year! ( they scored brilliantly last year with Valkyria Chronicles, the Club and Chromehounds )

It's Gearbox, it'll be fine. It's Gearbox, it'll be fine. It's Gearbox, it'll be fine! Please, if ever one of my wishes were to come true, let it be that this game isn't shit! Or that I gain Spiderman's powers. Either one of those would be OK.

I feel torn about this game, in one hand I love the original Alien film trilogy (AVP is dead to me, ressurection was kinda ok) and the possibilities a "next-gen" alien game would allow are just plain badass. But in the other hand, I haven't really been impressed by a Sega game for a long while..
