[Update: Well, that would explain why it's old footage. It's an old trailer that Sega uploaded yesterday. Oh well. Watch it again, I guess.]
Here's a new trailer for Aliens: Colonial Marines, this time sporting some actual gameplay footage as opposed to CGI. There are plenty of hissing xenomorphs and screaming marines, which is exactly how the universe should be balanced.
This trailer would excite me, except for one thing -- none of this footage is new. Everything in this video has been taken from the demo level shown at last year's E3 (and later shown at PAX). After such a long time, I was really hoping to see something new. The fact that a single ten minutes of polished gameplay has been revealed since the game was announced makes me nervous.
In any case, my Alien fanboyism is still keeping me super stoked, and I hope Gearbox knocks it out of the park. It's got to be better than AvP was.

Meet the rest of the team
Er, but this is the exact same gameplay trailer released around E3, the one that preceded the 11 minute walkthrough. Nothing new in any of the shots. I'm not sure what SEGA are gaining from re-releasing this one. Bizarre.

You need to read it again. He states this is a NEW trailer using the old footage from before when in fact it is an old trailer that has been around in this form for months. What aren't people getting about that?
What's the point in me linking to this exact trailer uploaded last August to show it isn't new if people like you you just keep quoting Jim's article without looking at why we are saying it's AN OLD TRAILER?
*sigh* you know, SEGA and Gearbox are really killing me with this one.. They really need to buckle down. Here's to another year hoping this actually comes out, and here's to hoping it is good.
I swear, the Alien franchise has so much potential and it's sad that we don't have more games revolving around it. How could would it be going to different worlds in the Alien universe and trying to control outbreaks!? Meh, I suppose I'll be happy with just playing through a recap of the second movie though... anything Alien related would be nice, and if this comes out this year we'll have a ton more Alien stuff then we've had in a long time. Prometheus and a Alien game will be enough to satisfy me for quite a long while.
on another side note, anyone else finding it a tad worrisome how little of gameplay they have shown for this game?
The game looks pretty good, but I can't help but feel everything is to scripted, like in the chase, so long as you run your pretty much safe so it was a really pointless scene, things like aliens coming down from the vents and grabbing your partners and you can't hit them even though you obviously are, stuff like that really get's on my nerves you know. It's like am I the only one who thinks this game would benefit from the gameplay design of Half life? Where everything feels connected and once your in a certain place it's up to you on how to do it.
Whoa, whoa, whoa keep that AvP hatred to a minimum! it was not THAT bad of a game. Rebellion sucks, but not AvP. I will certainly say that I was hoping for something more similar to the old Monolith AVP games but still. I was still very happy with the game anyway. I sure do miss the Alien Lifecycles though and the Predalien.

No, I'm not, this trailer is from August, it's the same.

See above.
Is it too much for people to get facts right?

This looks shite. Shite. Shite. Shite. Due to consoles, which have made all FPS shite.
