If you are among those who have been anticipating a patch for Aliens vs. Predator on your Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, you can probably stop waiting now. SEGA has no plans to give you what you want. In a post on the official SEGA forums, Assistant Community Manager Julian Mehlfeld has revealed the unpleasant news:
I've just received a mail this AM regarding patches for the console versions of AVP and I regret to inform everyone that these have sadly been scrapped.
Mehlfeld goes on to state that he'll continue to fight with the powers that be to try and get this decision reversed. That's positive, at least. Still, there have to be a lot of very upset console gamers right now.
No change in plans is expected in regards to the PC version of the title, which should continue to receive support from SEGA for the time being.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
But if you bought a multiplat FPS on a console, you should've seen it coming.
Solution - don't buy their games. Ever.
Fire them. Period.
If so I'd be heavily disappointed if i hadn't already taken it back and sent a complaint to Rebellion.
I soon realised that multiplayer sucked as could never find a match or there would be like 3 people on a 16 player sized map. what sucks is when you found a match if a player left the game ended and at the end of a round you would have to go through all this again and try and find a match.
So i waited thinking they will patch this soon.... (a couple of months go by)
I log back in and no patch, game still basically broken... (wait a few more months)
I read this cmoment on the blog about not releasing a patch!!!!
last time i buy anything from sega or rebellion, they cant be trusted!
would have been an ace game if it werent for multiplayer not connecting! but otherwise an average singleplayer game
thanks a lot rebellion and sega, thanks for working on your dlc which you charge for but not fixing the game cause you have already stolen our money!
@benbot: So basically you bought MW2?
You can pretty much
imagine how people abused the fuck out of that.
I think other than that the
only other issue was actually getting into gamesand the occassional disappearing act during a grab move.
Those dickheads sold people a broken fucking game. They need to be held accountable.
I'm curious to know what patches MS and Sony have charged people for. I doubt they would charge someone for a patch like this, that would be insanely retarded and it sounds made up.
Couldn't agree more. Bought it on the PS3 (before I had 360) played the duck out of it but couldn't get over the ridiculously numerous multiplayer problems they had. It was shot from the get go, yet for a while it's all I played. :(
I don't think we'd get charged for a patch to make the gamemore playable - im guessing that the developer gets charged by either Sony or microsft if they need to patch a product that shold have been working in the first place. But there a re two sides to this...any problems should have been addressed during a beta or demo for MP modes from both testing on the developers and MS and Sonys side. But you also have to look at it from everyone point of view. Sony and MS have to lay server space and Download allocation and set up and test all the update systems before we can even update. It's time consuming at costs money. I bet Rebbelluion or Sega just had to look at the proft Vs Sales ratio and if they weren't planning DLC packs...it's not cost effective in the short term. But it's just a shame both Sega and Rebbellion take a big hit for leaving us in the lurch!
But I agree. I never played the game, but if these things are that bad that people are bothered by there being no patches, it sounds like it's something that shouldn't have made it to the full package in the first place.
It's a shame that there isn't going to be a patch when there are people who have enjoyed and bought their game, it's a bit of a slap in the face to the customers really.
lol contards also paid this game more at retail to get less patches and support, 0wned
Never buy Rebellion developed games, Look at SWBF: Renegade Squadron, And Elite Squadron. It's a poor mans version of game that should or could have been developed into a real game on the consoles/PC except they're half assed. Basically don't buy from Rebellion, Just saying.
This is ridiculous. You released a broken product, and now you're not going to fix it? That's like releasing a mass murder, and saying you're going to keep an eye on him, except you don't. And that mass murderer is a Predator.
@Kamui
Star Wars Battlefront II barely got any patches. I think it only got 2 of those.
Going on any Star Wars: Battlefront II site, there is the conversion pack, which has so much more material than the game shipped with, which makes me wonder something. If Pandemic had kept working on the game and maybe doing a little paid DLC to help keep it afloat, where would it be now?
Also, I found Renegade Squadron to be... Okay. It wasn't the worst game, but it definitely wasn't better than SWB2. I played the demo of Elite Squadron, and after playing it, I looked at the customization options. They added like, what, 6-7 new items to customize with? Not for every slot either, just in general. Elite Squadron was very half assed, even more so than Renegade Squadron.
and the console version just blew
