Alien Crush Returns

I love a good pinball game and, since hardly any pinball machines are manufactured any longer, sometimes I have to settle for a less physical experience. And, when I do, it's almost always to play Alien Crush or its sequel, Demon Crush, on the Virtual Console. Now, Hudson has announced that they're bringing the series back on WiiWare.

The new title, Alien Crush Returns, is expected to hit the Japanese WiiWare service later this month. No word yet on a release outside of Japan, but I'll go on the record as saying, "DO WANT."

Will it have waggle? You bet it will! Shaking the Wii remote will act as bumping the machine, allowing your ball to do more damage to the enemies it hits and helping to maintain control over it.

The boards in the Crush series have always been pretty intricate affairs, packed with monsters to kill, ramps to run around on and pinball-related minigames to play. And they're planning to add more value to the game with new boards via DLC. Which hopefully means I won't have to wait years and years to play a new pinball game.

Hudson has also suggested that special balls with varying effects will be available for use in the game. Balls that are more powerful the faster they are, balls that split in two, all sorts of balls. Which is cool and all, but they've also given the distinct impression that these are going to be microtransactional, which is less cool.

The question I have is, how much would you be willing to pay for new balls?

"Okay guys, so it's been awhile since we've made an Alien Crush game. It's been gone from the world for awhile. What do we call it?"

Finally some more information about this game. I'd be interested in new tables as DLC, but not so much new balls. Also, if you own a Wii and like pinball, you need to pick up Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection. It's awesome, because I said so.

The Williams Collection is totally rad for sure. I am interested in this, but the microtransactions for balls seems like a bit of a stretch. I will wait and see how much fun I have with it first before I make a final decision on the matter.

Interested in this one! I really enjoyed the Crush games on Turbografix. The idea of downloadable boards sounds great. The idea of downloadable special balls, not so much.

Demon Crush?

Don't you mean Devil's Crush (Or "Devil Crash" in Japan)?

this may possibly be the first wiiware game that even looks remotely interesting to me.

New tables via DLC will be like Epic Pinball all over again.
Took me so long to find each disc containing each table as a kid. But man were those fun.
Paying for balls though? That doesn't make sense and would ruin the score board.
When score is an actual measurment of skill and you buy "super cheat ball" then you bought the high score to brag about.
You should only be able to cheat the normal evil way of using third party cheating devices.

Paying per table makes perfect sense though.

I would love to see micro transactions used right though.
You know, pay a quarter play an arcade game. That sorta thing :3
It would be like the real arcades almost, cept the price doesn't change and when the game locks up it eats all the money from your account.

Eh anyway. Yes, virtual pinball is great. Can't wait to see it in the states.
