Hey, look! The folks at Team17 are releasing a game that doesn't have the word "worms" in its title!

The developer has announced that Alien Breed Evolution: Episode 1 will hit Xbox LIVE Marketplace next Wednesday, December 16. It'll run you 800 MS Points, and has players navigating the halls of an alien infested space station. Sound scary? (I admit, I peed a bit.) Bring a friend -- the game supports cooperative play, as well.

While the game hits Xbox LIVE Arcade first, it's expected to hit PlayStation Network and PC in 2010. Check out more videos of the game in action after the jump.

So unfortunate that this is a download-only title, and split into thirds on top of that. No thanks.

Is it me, or is there a distinct lack of sound in those videos?

Xtian: thank you for saving me from having to crawl under my desk to check speaker cables. There's 5 year old Cheeto dust under there, who knows what would happen to me if I breathed that in. *koff*

I'm really liking the whole overhead in HD fad that's on XBLA and PSN right now.
Some stuff that comes out is really cool.

Hmm Alien breed. I loved the originals and the different ports. I wasn't even five and I was playing Alien Breed. So this is a welcome return to a classic that was clearly inspired by Aliens.

@fetusmilk

Yeah and it was released on a few other platforms during that time I believe.

Tower assault was probably the best in the series though, saw a release on pc and one of the later Amigas.

looks promising, but reminds me of the mindless marvel alliance style - which makes me sleepy

Hrm... At first I thought that it was a console iteration of the old alien swarm mod for UT2004. Man I wasted so many hours during college playing UT2004 and it's mods... *sigh*... Those were the days.

Oh man i cant wait for this game. This was a huge childhood memory for me. Some of the funniest times me and my brother had was playing it co-op running across fields of never ending spawning aliens and fighting your way to the door to close it and to keep the aliens out. Only sometimes one of us would lock the door before the other guy got in the room and all you can do is sit back and watch your partner freak out...major LOL moments

@sickboy0138

I really hope that isn't true. I see no reason why co-op can't be in the core game, like the original series. Can you link to where you got that info?
